This is of course a photoshop, I have almost all of the sheet metal for the front end and will make the back out of wood attached to a metal framework. I have been looking at Birch as I want it very light in color, Any thoughs or ideas???

  4. I agree, but I think the problem is in your drawing. It looks as tho the wood is in a different scale and needs to be bigger.
Aside from that, it's a cool car. Mike

Does anyone know where I can get the rails for the body that the cowl and body bolt to, I am thinking the subrails from a tudor should work, but i dont know where to find them

That's one source for new subrails.

Looks like the proportions of the body to the front sheetmetal are a bit off. I´d recheck the measurements.

Using the blue print dimensions, I am sure we will see some changes, I extended the hood, 3 inches

  9. Here's a very similar car built by Kirk Duquett several years ago. The trick in my opinion is to not build the body as slab sided, totally flat, box.

just an opinion, but would be nice to see it with a little angle on the front and back. It will look lower, and a bit more stylish I think. Maybe even angle the bottom of the back up and radii the tangent of the two points.

    Just my suggestion.

P.s. and if you were to angle the top of the back, maybe make the roof line shorter and have it follow the angle.

    Again, just my opinion.

If I had P.S. I would render off of yours, but I dont.

Made some slight changes, but I think I am ready to start this project.

I have rounded the back to match the curves on the side, my plan is to have all of my bulkheads to match

I have made a couple of more changes, Does any know where i can get dimesions for the subrails on a tudor sedan, I allready have all of the sheet metal, ready to start the work. I want to make my own subframe, just looking for dimensions and then I think i need to blow this up full size.

  13. Much better, that's going to be a neat car. I always liked that style, it just looks like fun. I hope you will do a build thread. Wish I could help with the dimensions you need.

i think this project is impossible with out a rolling chassis at your disposal.. (the same reason I havent done a a woodie yet) like you. I have a cowl, but my frame and suspension is 300 miles away from one another..

you'll want the rear fender arch to fit around the rear wheel.. making that happen without a frame is going to be hit or miss..

subrails will be alittle help in determining where things go, but i think you need more..

    fyi.. what motor / trans???
in an A with the rear that low your motor trans will be high in the car, resulting in less interior space inside

good luck... check my posts for my woodie wagon projects.. '

I am planning on using 5 x 2 rectangular tubing. I think I may just follow the plan on wecotts site, but with no horns and pinched rails to match the Model a grill shell.

Tubing has been ordered, now i need to clean the garage so that I can start on this.

I have reworked the picture and with scan photos on a tudor, I think this is proportioned better, I will start with this to get all of the frame work right.

I am working off the Wescott dimensions for the frame, but I want to eliminate the horns.

That last one really did not do it for me, I have made my prototype frame out of wood, at the suggestion of one of the members, Its cheaper than messing up the metal.

I think I have the dimensions now, just need to get started.

Teak always looks good and will withstand the elements.

I am trying to do a similar project. It is a lot cheaper to mock up a body out of plywood before you invest in your wood of choice. Also do some scale dimensions, what looks good, may not be usable. The amount of engineering is huge. Have fun and do not get discouraged. Check out my album if you want,
    Good Luck

That looks too flat to me. It doesn´t conform to the shape of the sides of the car at all. When these get built with flat sides, they really don´t look good. Not trying to jump on you, but I wanted to say it now, rather than later, when you got a lot more time in it.

Drop the rad shell a fraction.

Try leaning the rear window forward, just a little.
