I need some help with a problem that I have with my air file. Can anyone tell me how to set the "time" on a Rodac 8400 or similar air file? It seems like that I saw a post about a forum that such problems were discussed. Can anyone recommend a source of information on my problem? Thanks for any help.
Not sure what you mean by 'time', never heard of that. The only thing i set is the speed and mine has an air regulator - its a Dynabrade
There are two sets of gears inside the air file that are involved in moving the sandpaper board back and forth. These gears must be "timed" so that they work together and not against each other. The file has two pistons that move the board back and forth. I believe the one of the gears determines the direction that the air flows to change the direction that the pistons move.
Gotcha! I was thinking about the airfile that is like the little airsaw that takes a file instead of a jigsaw type blade.
A very nice gentlemen, Mike Fejes of Fejes Tools, told me how to time the Rodac sander. The sander is working as good as the day that I bought it new back in 70s. There are still some good guys out there. Thanks Mike!!!!!
