I think maybe the TRK staff forgot to photoshop the images before going to the printer! :)

yeah, thats a good one ryan...

yes, we have a brand new layout guy, and he uploaded the wrong text files on the trike. you can see the full feature with the correct text on the website, and there will be the full story in the next issue.

ive been after kevs willys for quite a while. a well deserving cover car.

Congrats. I saw the magazine in the rack and saw your garage front and said thats a hamb'er.
We are dominating the magazines now. Every couple of pages you see a hamb member or sticker in a window.

In case you did not notice your brand new layout guy also screwed up with Drag Strip de-classified. The third page (#86) is a re-run from issue #29.

And on the subject of that series it might be an idea to have someone with a bit more knowledge of that era write some of the captions. It is somewhat surprising that Mr Leto did not note that the topless funny car on page 86 is driven by Dale Armstrong, one of the true innovators in the sport. The dragster directly below the Armstrong car is that of Holland and Gudel and was featured on the cover of Drag Racing USA back in the day. Holland was at one time the editor of National Dragster and is still active in the sport.
Going back to the "new" pages in the feature the topolino on page 84 is the well known Ratican, Jackson and Stearns car and that team name is even visible on the crew guy's shirt. Contrary to what the caption says the car actually has an Oldsmobile engine in it. There are engines other than small block Chevy's that have paired intake ports and this is one of them.
The "A" roadster on the next page is also from a well known team as evidenced by the number and the B & N Automotive logo on the hood. Bert Peterson and Noel Black were pioneers of the sport on both the strip and the lakes. Likewise with the Vicious Vette pictured alongside the roadster. Rather than pointing out things that are obvious in the photo it would have been a better idea to note that this was one of Dale Pulde's earliest rides and the fact that he went on to be a funny car superstar.
Sorry to beat up on your guy but there are a lot of younger readers who can be led astray by misinformation such as this and somewhat mindless captions that point out the obvious (or assume and as such misinform) are probably worse than no caption at all.

    Roo

ps Because I am old and my brain is filled with too much trivia I googled a few things to double check that I had my facts straight--maybe Mr Leto should do the same.

Does anyone read the proof before pulling the trigger on the print run?

I'm also not sure why the author of Kiwi Kev's feature doesn't like referring people to the HAMB site, unless it's an inside joke I don't get. That said, Trad R&K is the only car mag I pick up every issue of.

Congrat's Kiwi Kev on the feature and cover!
