I'm painting the grille and the wheels a matte white pearl kind-a color... A color I've never even seen before so it aught to be interesting
Hoping to have them back finished by mid-week. Then I've got to come up with some money for tires....
Very nice start to a great truck...think I would leave the outside alone, just get some of that rust stop chemical and treat the spots, then drive the wheels off it. Dropped axle in front, flip the rear axle and start cruising. I do remember you from that day in Canton, and if I can do anything to help you along on your build just yell. I'll PM my number to you.
AHHHHH i am dying to find an all original black f1 with a flathead v8!!!! NICE SCORE!!!!!!!!! The matte white on the grill and on the steels with beauty ring and center cap would be cool with a matte black body. I hear everybody swaps the front to discs because the braking on these trucks is just horrible. I dig it, but bias ply tires would be more fitting, other than that awesome truck Definitely lower it
That's sure WAAY better shape than anything we can find UP in this area! My 51 f-1 came to mich. all the way from Oregon about 40 years ago... It's been apart in the garage for years now with not a lot done for awhile during a house remodeling and some health problems... Subscibed for inspiration!
Well, They're "mounted up" (On the wheels that is) We're still trying to figure out why there's no pressure in the brakes. We're ***uming theres an air leak or some $h!t. As soon as the brakes are fixed, We'll be slapping these bad boys on and hitting the streets. I also picked up some gauges today. They were practically given to me. Way to good of a deal to p*** up. I still have to swap over to 12V b4 I can even install & enjoy. So they're just being sat to the side for now....
So we got a little more work done today. We replaced all the brake cylinders and they work GREAT! but now the truck won't start..... Just my luck. The carburator is obviously gunked up and I'll have to piddle with it later. This is a cool '51 I saw at a local cruise in Friday evening:
Thanks, They look 100 times better in person. They're "pearl" but you really can't tell in the photos
