I've used Wesleys for years with no problems. Just like anything else, they have to put warnings on the label. Good cleaners are usually caustic and shouldn't be spewed all over the place and not properly rinsed anyway, besides the fact that aluminum and magnesium are easily subject to chemical corrosion.

I used to buy "wire wheel cleaner" that was a two part, acid wash and neutralizer. That stuff was wicked even getting it on your skin or vapors up your nose.

  2. Okay Dudes!!! After reading all the conflicting opinions, I went ahead and used Bleche-Wite on my Coker whitewalls about 20 minutes ago. It did clean them very well---it did not in any way screw with the black portion of the tire. It did not have any negative effect on my base/clear paint---and it did not eat the flesh of my bones. It works very well by following the instructions. I sprayed it on the dry tires, waited a few minutes, scrubbed like Hell wih a little fibre bristled brush, then rinsed with clear water from my garden hose.---if I get up tomorrow morning and the car is setting there on its rims, then Larry---You got a lot of 'splainin to do!!!----Brian

Last fall (2011) I started using westley's bleche-wite on my BFG silvertown wide whites, they looked great so I've been using it exclusively since. My sidewalls started showing fine cracking and it's gotten worse over the course of this summer, now they look kind of grey. I spoke with Coker and they said Westley's Bleche-wite will dry out your tires.

WARNING: WESTLEY'S BLECHE-WITE (black Magic brand) WILL DRY OUT YOUR TIRES!

My wide whites were glowing white for 3 years (using spray nine to clean) and now they look like **** after a year of using Bleche-wite. That's $1000 in ruined white walls.

Use Simple Green straight from the bottle and #1 steel wool, as needed for scuff marks. When you're done, rinse the entire tire with clear water as SG leaves a slightly sticky residue. I've done all my whites this way for at least 20 years without damaging anything.
