A friend has been sending me links to this site so I finally thought it was time to sign up. I'm a freelance writer from Oshkosh, Wis., enjoying the freedom of self-employment since 1991. My biggest client these days is Harley. I write a lot of media releases and other marketing stuff for the company. I've had a few historical articles in Hot Bike magazine in the past few years. Ask me anything about the peanut gas tank. I've been involved in the vintage snowmobile hobby for a long time (hey...this is Wisconsin) and enjoy fixing and riding old Arctic Cats. My current project is a 1965 Cat. But I'm really here because last month I picked up a 52 Chevy coupe that was originally modified in the late 1960s, I think, with a 67 327, Muncie and a Tri-5 4:11 rear end. Interior was finished with black leather GM big buckets and a matching rear seat. Flat black dash with some old pinstriping. Full Moon wheelcovers. 20-foot garage paint job. My goal is to have fun with this car and keep it period correct, starting by ditching the new chrome valve covers and air cleaner the previous owner installed. I found a set of vintage Cal Custom valve covers at the Iola swap meet last month. Now I'm looking for a cool air cleaner. I was told this car p***ed through many owners in northern Illinois before I got it, and it's been fun sorting through the various layers of modifications, wiring mysteries, etc.,that have been made by those owners in the past.
Welcome from Oklahoma. Hey, can we stay at your place when we come for the air show? Just kidding, glad to have you.
Welcome from Campbellford Ontario , importer of all Oshkosh Corporation vehicles in Canada..Been to your town a few times, want to make Iola as a working collegue @ the Oshkosh Corp. keep taunting me about this show...
Welcome from Mosinee.... you and I have met on several occasions...I was heavy into the Vintage sled shows, etc from the early '90s to about 2010... decided to take a break (from sleds) and build an old Mustang, some Bobber style bikes, and now my truck....but still have most of my sled collection (in mothballs) along with some yet to be done sled projects. Always enjoyed your writing! Tom
Thanks for the welcomes, and rustang glad there is one other sledder here, but I can't place who you are. Drop me a line.
