Has anyone ever mounted an oversize radiator at an angle in a 56 Chevy? I bought this project and found someone had cut notches into the frame horns on the 56 and slid the radiator into the slots. I patched the frame horns and want to keep the big radiator. I can fit it in if I mount it at an angle like a corvette. Will this affect cooling or flow? I can fabricate anything for mounts.

Won't affect cooling or flow but may not get enough air depending how far away the fan is. If you use electric fans it will get the same amount of air as it ever did.

Thanks, I'm ***embling the front end sheet metal stuff now. I'll see how drastic the angle is in a few days. I was worried the radiator would not work because the water being right on the cap all the time.

can you post a few pictures? I'm pondering changing the radiator in my 55, it has a blown big block, stock sheet metal except for the core support, and now I have a big cross flow in it.

When you say your radiator is "big", how big is that?

Here's mine just after painting the car, it's probably the best way to see the radiator without the grille and stuff in the way. And yes, the hood does fit over it just fine. The 55 has a few inches less clearance front to back than the 56, and a blown big block is a rather long engine ***embly.
