My father in law is pushin' 86 years old. He was a rodder prior to World War II. When he came back from the war he kept screwing around with cars, both old and new. He drove a tractor trailer and retired at 58 and then for 25 years he mowed lawns for "old people". His hip started bothering him a few years ago and today he's a little old man. But boy he loves to talk about all the cars he's known and loved. But he's slowed down a lot and can't do a whole bunch anymore. In his ba*****t he had a '77 T Bird that he bought brand new. The trans had gone out some 10 or 15 years ago and it just sat. On father's day my wife and I yanked that car out and had the trans rebuilt and some other work done on it. Today we drove it back to him and he about fell out!!!! He got out of his lazy boy and said I'll be back in a minute and he jumped in and took off. Two hours later he came back, grinnin from ear to ear. I damn near cried. I'm no kid myself, but it sure made me feel good to see what I saw. Some people think cars are ******** but today I saw an old man pull his one foot out of the grave and all because of an old car. Damn! It is awesome.
I am so pleased for you and your family, and really thank you for sharing your story. Best wishes to you, your wife and your father-in-law, and I hope you and he can continue to share your love for many years to come. Cheers.
You post gave me a warm feeling and a big smile i hope you have many more years with your father in law
Awesome! The joy you have brought him is great. You will be blessed in time for this act of true kindness.
I am glad you did that while he could still get in it and go. I was going to do something similar for my dad but I waited too late. Good for you man.
