Damn, I love the Diamond-Plaid interior. Great find. It's amazing how many near perfect cars are just waiting to see daylight again. This is definitely one of them.

Can't wait to see it back on the road.

NICE! A 1940 that was garaged in 1959, you have a 19 year old car. Bob

WOW! Chalk this find up to "good livin"!

    How did you find it?

I have to wonder how that fender was 'lost'?

I also started thinking how much fun the owner and eventually his Son would have had DRIVING that car through the 60's, 70's, etc.
Seriously, that car could have got a guy laid bigtime :D

Yeah, you will have fun with that. I have been looking for a p***enger fender for some time, you wont have any problem finding the driver side, beside Bob Drake getting in the act.

I believe the standard r/r fender didn't have the tail light hole. The deluxe had tail lights on both sides. My first car was a 40 coupe back in 62. Have fun with your coupe!

congratulations on your find. There seems to be a lot of older cars being found or purchased that have been sitting for a while. Got to wonder if it is an age or an economy thing ? Maybe both?

ive heard about the car for about 6 months. A guy kept telling me he knew where the car was, and that it has been sitting there since the 50's untouched, but he wouldnt tell me the exact address or even a road to go off of. I kept bugging him, and he always told me he was going to find out about it for me, but always forgot. Then one day.... I was talking to a different gentleman, a guy that specializes in flatheads, and we were talking about building one for a 34 ford i have. And as we were driving to the machine shop to drop off the block, he says he used to go to breakfast every week with an older gentleman that used to have an old car in the garage. And that the gentleman had just p***ed and they were looking to get rid of the car to pay some expenses. So im like, what the heck, lets go look at it. Im thinking its probably a model a sedan or a 50's plymouth, with my luck, but what do i have to lose. So we drove to the house and we knock on the door, and spoke to the young lady. She goes on to tell us that her father in law just p***ed recently and yes there was a old car in the garage, and would we like to see it. Heck ya! That was the easiest experience i have ever had knocking on a strangers door! So it turns out to be this 40 ford, all covered in dust, lawn mowers surrounding it, brooms, rakes and shovels leaned all over it. Could hardly make out the front of the car. So she explains, they are cleaning out the garage, to make room for her to park her ford escape in the garage, and that she was sick of parking outside, and wants a parking space. So it turns out that the car is definately for sale. She explains that her husband was a fire fighter and works crazy hours and that we could talk to him this weekend. After some begging and pleading, we agreed i could come back this evening after 8pm and talk to her husband. So that night we made a deal we both could live with, and the rest is history. Her husband told a couple of stories about what he remembered about the car, and how every year during the neighborhood garage sales the same group of people were always trying to buy the car from his dad, and it was his pride and joy, and would never be for sale.
