One of our club members has gone through some really tough times recently, being that his went through multiple brain surgeries as reults of brain clots after child birth. She has now been on a fast and bright outlook of a recovery, but he has been juggling their 3 year old daughter, new born son, work and hospital visits. Every one in the community has helped out tremendously, but the club wants to give a little to him by lowering his truck. So what i am wondering is if anybody may have subframed one already or just knows a good frame to use for this situation. We have not been able to measure his trucks dimensions yet because we are trying to keep it a surprise. Any info would be greatly appreciated. The Kustomers Car Club
I also have a 52 stude that I lowered myself. The stock frame/springs allow about a 5/6" drop in the front. I used a company called ARC spring here in Michigan. They were the only ones that I could find to do the work for me. They reversed the eyelets and dearched the new leafs in the front. In the rear I used 4" lowering blocks and removed the 4/5 factory installed helper springs. It's not as low as a subframed truck, But itwas much easier to do. I did it myself in a day. I have also seen a few stude trucks subframed with 67'-76' camaro subframes. I don't know how they attached them to the existing frame butthey seemed to look pretty good and had a very low stance. (much lower than the stock suspension). Hope this helps. I've got a couple of pics to show the maximum you can lower a stock suspension 52' stude pickup if you need them.
