I got some quotes on my 29 A Sedan for 2 1/4" duals from the header back at around $350 to $400. Seems a bit high, whats teh going rate out there?

i paid 250 for full exhaust on my 65 chevy, headers to the rear bumper including magnaflow mufflers. i will say though, that this guy likes to work on old cars and actually enjoys custom work. he swapped my long headers for shorties, adapted the pipe with a decent amount of difficulty and installed my dump tubes for like 120 bucks this year too. i'd have paid double and was ready to do just that, dude is the best in town.

  3. Brett,

I was thinking about a cheap exhaust for my 68 chevy p/u the other day. Then I was walking around the boneyard, and realized there were a lot of practically new 2-1/4" to 2-1/2" exhaust systems under wrecked p/u trucks. I wonder if you could pick up some parts from the bone yard and mig together a decent system yourself. Of course, you may be under a time constraint.....

Are you going to try driving the sedan to the drags??:D

I got mine done w/ 1-3/4" all the way back for $200. No mufflers, just pipe. Actually quiets it down enough to get the fuzz off. Raps and pops too.

BTW: It is on 62 falcon w/ I6 and dual headers. Goes all the way to the bumpers, so I am about two feet extra compared to you.

    Hope it helps, Erron

ive had early 60s fullsize fords done, smaller cars done, and i find it runs aroound 300 or so, providing your own mufflers. BUT i have also sent friends in with similar situations to the same place and have found that it varies per day, mood, etc...youwill get a different price at 9 am on a monday than you will at 12 noon on a friday ya know?

Just had new duals run on my '60 LeSabre, $250 for 2" aluminized, from the manifolds to the rear, with turbo mufflers.

for standard pipe sizes like two inch, two and a quarter or two and a hlf inch you can get them done for around $200 to $250 here. fancy mufflers and tips add to the tab.

I agree $200-300 is the going rate and I think very reasonable for someone to creat custom bent dual exhaust on a 18' long car.
Only problem, my guy decided not to pay his lease for almost a year and now I have to find someone else to do it for me. 25+ years in the same shop and he goes under, pretty sad.
Anyone know a good muffler shop around the Oshkosh, WI area? I was also thinking about picking up a used pipe bender and doing it at my shop. I do enough new exhaust on old stuff that it is probably worth it.
