Highest asking price I've seen to date. "If you are a true Hot Rod owner who displays your car at shows, you need this comic book. To have the only #1 issue at the #1 grade to add to your "presentation" only shows you have the #1 Hot Rod. As everyone knows the way to win shows is by "presentation, presentation, and presentation". Add this comic book to your rod's presentation and the crowd will gather around to see the Comic Book especially since it is the #1 issue of the very first comic books dedicated to "Hot Rods and Speedways". This comic book helped start the rush to Hot Rods. It was there at the start and this issue may have contributed to some of you getting into Hot Rods. This is the issue to have the "best of the best". This particular series only lasted 5 issues for Hillman. It is no surprise that this comic hit the stands in early 1952, once we look at a short history of Hot Rodding as explained by the Collectors Society: It is considered a Golden Age Comic Book (1938 to 1955) Because of it's age and being a paper product it can only go up in collectibility and value over time. 90 years ago the guys were hanging out in Gasoline Alley talking cars. Went to our car club meeting last night and was reminded that when a bunch of guys get together with their cars ....not much has changed in those 90 years.
