Hello, Just wondering if any Hambers goes to the Atlanta Dragway Swap Meet in Commerce, held on the first (sometimes second) Saturday of each month. Trying to find some good swap meets to attend in North Carolina or nearby states.

    Thanks; Paul B

A fast growing and well run swap meet. I try to make each one, just prepare for the heat and come early. It is also run by a HAMBER.

  3. Brad54's swap has grown steadily since he moved it to Commerce- like hotrod1940 said, it's well-run, well-supported by the track owner, and well-attended by vendors and buyers. Definitely worth the trip next Sat.

I have NOT been since Brad moved the swap meet.
BUT I did go to the other location and sold almost everything I took.

I was shocked ... that I did better there than at my regular spaces in the Blue field on the pavement ( Charlotte Spring AutoFair )

When the heat dies down ... I have another pickup load ... ready for Brad's swap meet.

    :)

How long until that Divco is on the road?

Thanks for the kind words guys!

Moving to the Atlanta Dragway in Commerce is the best thing I've done since Stevie said "Well, then why don't you start one?!"

I'm looking forward to this show. I've gotten a lot of new people asking about vendor spaces, we've got the parking all ironed out, and I'm looking to sell a bunch of stuff too.

And with getting the latest bugs ironed out at the last show, I might... maybe... possibly... be able to walk the field myself this time looking for things I can't live without!

I'm thinking about cutting the ends off and making finned-top 1bbl carb air cleaner scoops with it. Either that or narrow front brake scoops.
Can't figure out what to do with the section of the cover with the BUICK letters on it though... maybe mount it to the back side of a 3rd brake light housing, mounted on the package tray of a rat rod.
Just to tie the brake light in with the rest of the car.

Just letting everyone know I made the trip out to the Swap Meet and was able to find some good parts for a Restoration Job I am finishing at the shop.

Stevie G I decided to sell the Divco to a Buyer that kept wanting to buy it. Made an offer that I could not refuse, plus i needed to buy some more Metal Fab Equipment.

Brad looks Like you will have a new Vendor selling in a couple of months, once I finish setting the shop up in Salisbury, NC.

It rained to beat Hell everywhere BUT the dragstrip! Even in town close-by.

Had a real good turn-out, and it keeps growing every month.

Once I finally got some time to walk around, I spotted a truck with 4 sets of double-hump heads; All looked okay, three had been ported, one of them had pinned studs, the unported set had 2.02 valves, wasn't ported, had the stock valve seats and spring pockets, and screw-in studs.
He wanted $100 a set for each of them; I took home the unported set for $75.

I now have a '61 truck 283 block that'll go .125-over, a set of NOS Venolia forged 4-inch bore 283 pistons, a steel 283 crank, and these heads.

I guess I'll start hunting for a set of roller rockers, and then put together a high-horse, high-winding 301 for The Widow Wagon... I've got the 317-inch stroked 283, but it's a smaller bore with 1.94 valves. I can put more head on a 301.

The 317 made 403hp @ 6,000rpm with 10.3:1CR and a hydraulic roller cam, and will be the perfect "starter motor" while I learn to dial in the ch***is.

I wonder how much I can twist out of a 301 with more compression and more cam...

  15. Yup,

It was another great swap, and great to see the sock boys :D!

Went to sell more than anything else, but I did find a nice Unity spotlight for the '56 that just needs mounts and the plastic part of the handle for $20.

I'll be at the next one ... got some spare '64 fairlane parts to peddle ... that I will not be needing on either one of my own '64's.

I'd been to the old location & enjoyed myself. Found a few od items I needed so I'm into the next with a trailer of stuff.

  19. PBR- I'll gladly do it for some '32 Chevy brakes :D

(Brad, please disregard this post- nothing to see here, just keep moving)
