Could a Hot Wheel be a model? Here's some I did a while back. All 1:64 scale. Bone Shaker Drew my own flames. Taildraggers
Wow, I am curious how you did the flames and logo? That looks pretty cool. Digging that 55 Sport Coupe with the rusty bumpers, primer and flaked roof too. Nice!
I have seen the model thread in the past, but never really checked it out each week. Guess I am missing out as there is some neat stuff here (been going back through the weekly threads.) I have built scale models in my day, but it has been a long time. Today, I was at a monthly outdoor flea market and ran across this little Corvette. The seller seemed to think it was totally ruined with the filler and customizing, but I loved it immediately. $5 later and it was mine! He had a T-Bird and a Lincoln done in a similar manner, but I only brought home the little custom Vette. It looks like it might have had little chrome rocker trim panels, or perhaps lakes pipes at one time... What do you think? Ruined? Or kind of neat?!?!
Here's my 1:64 scale contribution. It's a Maisto, not a Hot Wheels. Yes, I know what it looks like, but please try to think of it as a barn find and not a r*t rod.
are you planning to leave it as is? or do you want to "restore" it to stock if you leave it as is i guess its ok if you want to build a stock vette is probably too far gone all the details have probably been sanded smooth you might be able to make a milder custom out of it
I'd say to disassemble it and then try soaking it in brake fluid or that purple stuff to get rid of the paint and see what's underneath. Like 57ford/60thunderbird said it's probably too far gone to put back to stock, but it would probably make a nice little custom.
I kind of like it just the way it sits as it reminds me of being 12 years old and dreaming away in the basement with my models!
hell ya ,leave it as is, ive got a few that are like that .its the only one like it.also that mopar engine bay is nice .
Are you kidding!!! Dont touch that thing!! That is cool as shit!! I love it! I would have grabbed the others also if they were like that! Nothing like old custom models, and if you can get them for 5 bucks, they are a no brainer!! Jim
"What do you think? Ruined? Or kind of neat?!?!" Do you like it? What the hell difference is it whether we like it or not. Don't try to please us, you will fail every time.
I have to agree, i'd leave it the way it was built and interpreted buy the person ho created it. There is something pure about that car in spite of the inperfections. Like a kid who was reading all the tips in an old modelers mag. and had to try them all out on their own, cool.
First the comments. I'm glad to see things are jumpin' here on Model Car Sundays. Thanx for the report from Hanover, miwi - some terrific models there. And of course Hot Wheels are models. The effect of a giant mass of identically flamed Little Ones is pretty impressive!!! Re: the 'Vette: DON"T TOUCH IT!!!! It's a prime example of Fabulous Funk from the Golden Age of Modeling. Were the others as totally cool? Of course Zed, your panel jobs are non pareil. Thanks for sharing another masterpiece. Here's a Dragmaster Mk. IV digger that just came off my bench on Friday. Hope you dig it:
Already said I loved it! Just curious about others thoughts and thought someone would enjoy seeing it. And, yea, the other two customs were cool too. Probably should have picked up all three but trying to chill it a little on dragging "stuff" home. Maybe they will still be there next month! And yes, that Watson style paintwork is amazing and beautiful!
Love that little digger. Note to self. Order a new chassis from Almquist tomorrow. Oh. Wait, I am about 45 years too late!!!
I didnt build either one of these, but they are both bitchin for different reasons. bought the XR6 at a swap meet, and the El Matrador at an antique store.. The Matrador is completely hand made, its incredible.. turned over you can see all the places its cut and customized... anyway, didnt know this thread existed, ill keep my eye for it and post some more
Here's one I helped my daughter build over the weekend... her first one ever... I used the rest of the kit to build the phone booth in the back ground.. my first one in 10 years
