The usual Sunday "What'd You Get Done" post.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by RileyRacing, Aug 7, 2005.

  1. I have to say I didn't do anything car related. I did however, get the awesome privlidge of seeing 8 of the 9 flyable B17's at Willow Run. And saw 5 of them flying over the airport. Wow. I can only imagine what it must have felt like to been on the recieving end of them, with only five going over it felt like an earthquake!

I also got some un car related goodies from my Grandpa this weekend, relating back to "artifacts" that were brought back from the Big One by other relatives.:D

I also am trying to convice my bud Donnie to sell me his 327 so I have a digger engine for a FED.

    How bout you?

    Jay

I gave thought to my Buick and was disgusted with myself over the lack of progress.

Sat, was spent hang with car buddies, grabbed a beer and mexican food for lunch then went and looked at 47 and 48 ford project cars. Today I Got the lower firewall sanded and into primer, did the final sand before paint on the motor and started smoothing the intake for paint.

Reading books on how to build my frame for the Caribee. Taking lots of measurements. Then I found an Austin Healey 3000 (which is correct for this body) finally and bought it so I only really need to make from the firewall forward now. HAPPY! Still lots to learn though. It's my first one.

    Mow the lawn
    find a new car
change the oil in me lawnmower after 4 years
damn I need to go back to work so I can rest

  8. Ironpile dropped off the 4cyl Chevy engine and trans that I bought from Toomany2count. Spent some time de-griming that. there was a swap meet in Elkhorn Wi, today, so i picked up a couple of Holley 1bbl carbs for the same project and paid $10.00 for a 'glass duece roadster dash.
When I got home an F15 flew overhead at some serious speed, plus a few warbirds. There is an airshow at Rockford airport, not far from here. I was watching some warbirds do loops from my shop door yesterday.

I cruised woodward after hunting down the silly rubbing noise my car was making. Did a little drag racing down woodward and got killed by stinkyfingers fleetline.(my damn car fell on its face mid way damn leaky valve seals)

Then went and got preety drunk afterwards. Saterday went and saw stinkyfingers band sweat out most of the beer i drank friday. All so got interveiwed by some newspaper about my car. That was kinda funny cause the guy was a dumb ass.

Then went home and passed out and drove my car around a bunch today and decided i need to put my new heads on this week.

i preety much just drove my car way to much and i need to not drive it this week and fix it after putting it off for long enough

I got the 4 speed in the truck, only to find it locked in reverse, tore it back apart, redid the shifter dog for reverse. Damn why didnt I check it on the work bench. Some lessons you learn the hardway, and those seem to stick. Finnally put the rocker shaft lifters and push rods in. Stuck the intake and Fenton headers on this evening. Hope to adjust the valves Monday. Jay

Washed, vaccumed truck, getting ready to get On The Raod Again!

Played with grandson's toys, until he caught me.
Drank some of that adult stuff.

Rest of the day, just wasted.

    Hot-Rod-A-Rama on saturday.
Welded in the tie-rod bungs in the wishbones of my pick up. Also cleaned out the garage to make room for my 'new' Model A sedan body.

Spent most of the long weekend in the shop making and welding patch panels... Save for a little after dinner visit to Woodward with a couple other HAMBers.

The rear window patch took a while to fab and I can't believe it turned out as well as it did.

Slowly but surely its coming along...

Maybe you posted the wrong pic? If not, sweet hood peak there buddy.

Anyway, I got my Beetle back on the road after an extensive (for me) front end rebuild. Even had balls to take my wife and baby for a ride after a couple shake downs. Saw a Blue Flame Vette Friday with a puddle of coolant under it. Cruised Woodward Saturday. Meadowbrook Concours Sunday. The theme was brass era cars. Beautiful.
