One Off The Bucket List

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Al T, Aug 7, 2012.

  1. I've long admired the cl***ic lines and style of the 56/57 Mark II. It's one of the few cars I feel looks like a custom off the show room floor. It's been on my bucket list ever since seeing one, but I never thought I'd have the opportunity to own one. A couple of weeks ago opportunity and timing met, and I was able to buy a 57 Mark II for a reasonable price. It's a driver with a little TLC required as it's been sitting for the most part since being imported from Florida approximately 5 years ago. Hopefully it will be making it's way west from Manitoba later this week. The intent is to fix a couple of minor items (knock on wood) and enjoy. It needs a little interior work and I'd eventually like to return it back to it's orginal black exterior color....... but that's likely far down the road.
This is probably a long shot but would anybody have the missing air cleaner elbow? I think a Premiere has the same elbow??

Yep, IMO one of the best looking stock cars from the 50's. Built a plastic model of one in 56-7 .

The most beautiful car Ford built in the 50s without doubt. Known for eating exhaust systems when new, solved problem these days with stainless exhaust components.

Love em. I've heard of door lock and pw issues as well as the aforementioned exhaust. Then again, what mid fifties car doesn't have pl and pw issues? Congrats!

I'd never seen one until you posted those pictures. That is one beautiful car. It looks like it could have come from any decade from the 50's through the 70's. Timeless styling.

Lincoln's had moments of brilliance, they did some spectacular stuff in the mid '50s. The Mark II is gorgeous, but I've long jonesed for a '56 Premiere.

Very nice looking car, someone mentioned that they were notorious for eating exhaust systems, it looks like they've grafted in some flex tubing by welding it to the exhaust manifold. Shouldn't be a big deal to correct that little problem. Congrats on a great purchase.
