If you have access to a car the Dover Dragway Reunion is August 11-12 at Lebanon Valley Dragway near Albany. About a 2-2 1/2 hour ride north.

A couple of things to add:
High Line Park. This is a park built on an elevated freight railroad. It goes from 10th Ave. and 30th St. south into the "Meatpacking" district. It ends at Gansevoort St. on the south end. Good viewing of the Hudson river and New Jersey. http://www.thehighline.org/

The Intrepid Museum. There is a space shuttle and an SR71 here. http://www.intrepidmuseum.org/

No, I grew up in the Bronx, I work in Manhattan. But I get to "the island" fairly often for work.

On friday we strolled around and p***ed by Ground Zero , It chocked me that it feelt like they made a "Turist attraction" out of it with a souvenir shop and all. Not sure but it even looked like you have to pay for entering the area.

P***ed thru china town and little italy, that was nice. Best thing with Manhattan is that it very easy to find a beer wherever you walk :)

Yesterday we took an 1 hour bus to a shopping mall called Woodbury Outlet. I recomend it for you who bring your wife to ny. She is going to be happy for days, Fred and I found a resturant there with a bar so we had a nice dat too :)

Today I think we are heading for a walk over Brooklin bridge and then down to Coeny Beach.

That's the way I feel everyday as I p*** it on my way to work.

Sorry I'm just seeing this for the first time, but it looks like you got great advice already.

    Enjoy the city!

Old Town Bar & Restaurant, 45 E 18th Street. Great old Bar.

Ear Inn, 326 Spring St. Another Great old Bar. Near the New York City Fire Museum on
    278 Spring Street.

Rudys Bar & Grill, 627 9th AVE. DIVE Bar. I think you can still get free hot dogs. HAHA.

    Have a great time.

Spent a day on Intrepid, very much cool things to see. A British Airways Concord, a Sub from the 50th's era, the Carrier and loads of chopper and fighter planes.
Top notch was the Blackbird, the yellow wagon next to it is the starter-wagon and it contains TWO Buick Nailhead 401 cui :)

Theres not much hotrod related things around manhattan, was there exactly one year ago.

If you want to buy some old ford parts i can recommend you Joblot automotive in queens, about 20 min with train.

And the tourist buses are great, buy some beer and ride around manhattan.
    Trevlig resa!

  18. That's right! Not a place to be missed! Recommended "the rodeo steak" or "the blackend catfish"
Just tell the cab driver that you wanna go to 27th and 3rd!

I've been there more times than I can count!
