1930s top shift trans face pattern ID?

    A couple of pm's are floating around hamb on this transmission ID.

    It has a 6 bolt top shift cover, unlike Cad/LaS from 37 up.

    Because it uses a slip on front bearing retainer, and has a offset ear on one bolt; is it an earlier Cad? or some other GM?


    Sorry for the small pic, it's all I have.

    OK after some research here's a possibilty 36 Lasalle side shift. The case where the side shift levers come through has been welded up the top of the case has been machined to except the top shift shift tower (orgin unknown) and its been converted to closed drive.

    That's bizarre :) If you ever take the top cover off of it, put up a pic for those guys that like these old modifications, and how they machined stuff.

    that is something that i have seen. i put lots of miles on a newer transmission with an older top shifter welded to it. shifts smooth and easy. my uncle did it and p***ed on before he showed me his "secrets". did it come from over this side of ct?
