I walked out on my screened in pourch a couple of years ago and my exwifes cats were acting crazy, when I looked to the left there was a huge bald eagle setting on the edge of the wall! I backed back in the house and shut the door went around the outside of the house and opened the pourch door so it could get out. My first thought when I saw the bird was oh hell no my varmit collecting ex aint keeping an eagle for a pet. The best I can figure he didn't realize the screen was between him and a cat snack and was dazed when he ran through the screen.

Ill see your hawk and raise you a fish. I was driveing down the beach in australia at a place called fraiser island. When this bird of prey came swooping down right in front of us and picked up this fish narrowly avoiding death from a front bumper at 100kph. Well this bird was a vindictive *******. As were commenting about this crazy bird suddenly the fish smacks the windshield and explodes fish parts all over our rented 4x4. I think it did it on purpose.

No Hawk, but I had a neighborhood feral cat sneak in the garage one day. When I walked in it was too freaked out to escape. Had to close it up and let it watch me open a window. By the time I got back, he was gone.

  10. what i think happened was we have a bird bath were the 'little' birds hang out, and i think he was going for them and somehow got himself in the garage, the bird bath is about 20 feet east of the first garage bay, but our kitchen window is right behind it. if he would of hit that he would have probably gone through it, i would have died of a heart attack being in the kitchen at the time:D

Yup, two years in a row....a hummingbird and I think the same one both years got in my garage with the big garage door open and couldn't find it's way out?
I let it wear itself out then got it on my finger and walked it slowly to the open garage and he flew away. The second year I got it and walked it all the way to my back house door and he and I sat at the back porch and I chatted for about 20 minutes before he also took off.
Apparantly....this is not uncommon for hummingbirds to interact with us humans.

    But a HAWK!!!!! Cool!

I was cruising in Oklahoma several years back in my Jeep headed up for a 4-wheelin' trip. I was doing about 65 and I saw a hawk flying low across the field heading towards the road and I guess he wasn't paying attention and flew right across the front of my Jeep bounced off the bumper and somehow left part of himself wedged behind my fender in my door jam. Pretty crazy. It happened pretty quick or I would have tried to miss him but reacting in a Jeep on 38" tires does not happen quick.

Raw chicken and a welders glove will have him eating outta your hand. They really are great birds. How big was it? Color? Did it make any noise? I'm a birdbrain and just wonder what it was. So cool!

We live in the country so interactions with hawks, owls, crows, hummingbirds and road runners are practically a daily occurence. The most bizarre thing was when we were sitting around one winter night watching TV and a big owl flew down the chimney and into the fireplace. The problem was, we had a fire burning. The poor bird flew right into the fire and couldn't get back up the chimney. We had one of those fireplaces with the gl*** doors on the front. We quickly ran over and yanked open the gl*** doors to allow him to escape into the house. I grabbed a blanket and threw it over him, bundled him up and released him outside. He flew off but he must have had some burns. Poor guy. I'm glad I didn't have to sit there and watch him roast to death.

A buddy's wife raised these high dollar tailless Manx cats that she sold the kittens for $600 each (who would pay 600 bucks for a freakin' cat). They lived in a wooded area and this litter was just about old enough to sell when one came up missing. My buddy hated cats, so, his wife accused him doing harm to the missing one. In his defense, he said "I'm not stupid. Yes, I hate those cats but 600 bucks is 600 bucks." Anyway, one evening they were out feeding the horses when they heard a kitten squealing and ran over just in time to see a huge owl carrying off another one. My buddy stood there and said "Well, s..t, there goes another 600 dollars, that owl must enjoy fine dining."

I want to put up some bat houses at my place, those little ****ers eat their weight in mosquitos. I never understood putting a purple martin house out to attract them as mosquito eaters. Around here mosquitos are nocturnal and the martins are diurnal. The pet stores around here push martin houses like they are the next miracle cure.

I do have to admit that bats are creepy looking though.

^ I agree about the bats. We have tons on our property, and virtually NO mosquitos even though our property contains wetland. It's amazing how effective the bats are. I love them!

Dang man, i only get the occasional black widow's in my garage. Although there was an osprey (kinda like a hawk) the other day plucking some baby squirrels out of the tree in my back yard. It was pretty gnarly.

Funny you should say that, a small bird got stuck in my garage only yesterday, first time ever. I turned the lights off at the back of the garage, then at the front so it would head towards the lightest part, outside, thought it was dusk.

I do the light thing with wasps and bumble bees, normally works.

Oh yeah I can normally see some bats too. Don't bother me in the slightest, I find them fascinating.

    Mart.

Red Tailed Hawks are territorial. There is one that sits on my mailbox sometimes and I have seen it swoop down and catch a squirrell running across the front yard. I have to laugh when someone staples a sign on the corner stop sign looking for a lost kitten.
