I found this 33 Chevy hood ahwile back in a junk yard in Nevada. I finally got around to cutting it up and making it fit the 31. It was bigger all around. I had to section it down the center, cut a little off the front and back, took a horizontal pie cut out of the side panel, and had to add a section to the back, but it worked. It's a cool hood, the doors open and close, and it has a handle that moves two latches on the inside to keep it closed. I just thought I would share. I don't think I have ever seen another rod with a this hood, have you?
There are aftermarket hoods that are similar, but yours is really good looking. Sets the roadster off just right imho....
WOW!!!!!!!! That looks great! That car has a lot of features I'd like to use on mine. I've had the '30 roadster body forever and finally desided a '32 ch***is is what I want to use. I've got that commercial cowl strip so maybe one of those Duvall windshields in in my future as well. Nice work!
I think it looks kick-***! The side profile still needs a little work,(the ribs on top and bottom) but it looks like you have the skills to do it. I am very envious of you guys that can work sheetmetal. I've never tried it, YET. But, I've been paying attn. to those who know how to do it, and will be trying my hand at it in the future. My coupe is gonna need a bit of patch panel work when I get started on it. I'm gonna practice on s**** sheetmetel, before I tackle the coupes tin. Again, that hood looks *****in
I think Clark's is a 32 Chevy hood. The 32 has 4 doors. The 33 has 3 and they are leaned back a little.
*****'n hood.... Nice work. Couldn't help but notice the belly tank sitting beside your rod... Did I miss the post where you intro'd that?
It's been a while since I posted an update on the tank. I will do so in the next couple weeks, I just gotta finish a couple things on it first.
That looks DYNAMITE!!! It looks worth all the effort. What are you planning for the body line discrepancy??? I would like to have seen a "tech" on that. Reverend Jake
Well, The top line lines up real nice with the body line, even though you can't really tell from the photo, so the problem is the bottom hood line. I think I am going to mimic the bottom line onto the side cowl of the body, and then have it fade out to a point before it hits the door. Similar to the way the line fades out on the hood before it meets the grill.
The bottom line lines up real nice, but the hood is sticking out a little in the picture, I still have to make the mount in the rear.
I really like your car with a hood now. Something about a hood just makes the car look sleek and ready to go 200 mph. My hood is a 32. I just used the hoodsides. I tried to get a 33 off Gl***hole but his came up missing. *****!! Clark
Thanks Clark, I know what you mean.... I've always liked the look of a roadster with a hood, no matter how cool the motor is. it's kinda like a ***y girl...... she always look better with a garder and lace bra.
Great idea - and nicely carried out. Good to see some open-minded thinking. Not many of us would probably ever have considered something like that. "Traditional" doesn't always have to mean the same thing over and over. Hey, what are those unusual front tires?
I noticed the body line and did a photoshop before reading the entire thread... I'm retarded... Anyway, I figured since I'd already done a quick comp, might as well post it, pretty much what you already were thinking...
BELIEVE ME!!!! If I had a chance to work with any of you guys on your cars, I'd gladly lop off a testi****e If I had a better picture of the side or at least closer I was wanting to see what it would look like to take that line all the way to the back of the car... Such a killer hood, I spent all morning looking for pictures of 33 chevys after seeing it... What are those vent/gill things??? How do they look open, if they do open... I told you I was retartded
Shilbert, Here's a better picture for you to play around with, and it has the vent doors open. And your not a retard.... anyone that can photoshop stuff is smart in my book. And Stan, I found the tires at a swapmeet for $20. they were NOS and made by a company called Diamond. They have got to be the most deco tires I've ever seen. I wish I had a truckload of them.
Okay guys, I got a few rough comps of the body line going all the way back, I also tried to do a painted version, they're a liittle messy, but you get the jist of it...
Sure, it would be a lot of work but you could roll "C" and "D" shaped beads in the cowl sides and line up top and bottom hood beads. I've always liked that Bugatti body feature.
