14" Cragar-style Mickey Thompson wheels?

I've got a set of M/T 2-piece wheels that I picked up from a friend. The centers are polished aluminum with the M/T casting on the back. Hoops appear to be chromed steel. They're 14X7 with what I'm told is a Ford 5-lug pattern, supposedly they came off of a '53 F100.

I've never seen these before, at least not from Mickey Thompson. Any knowledge to share? Potential value? I don't have a project these are right for and I will probably try to sell them but I have no idea if people would be interested in these. Any feedback appreciated.

    Translation;
"Hi, I've never been here before, have no intro, and don't really care what it is this site is about. I picked up these wheels, and they have Mickey Thompson on them so I know they're probably worth some money. My Google is broken, so I won't even bother to try to research them myself. I don't feel like paying all the fees associated with eBay, so I figured I'd throw them on here to see if I could sell them for free."

M/T made a lot of cool wheels. Yours are probably from '68 -'69, as I've got a decent collection of ads up to '67 and they don't show those specific "composite mags."

As far as value goes, it's hard to pin-down... the 14" diameter narrows your market, as does the big Ford/Imperial pattern. Weird mag-type wheels are hot for folks building mid-late 60's customs, but the bolt pattern excludes most of the passenger car applications that people are running. The fact that they're Mickeys is about the only thing that would interest most buyers.

So, what you've got are some rare wheels that some weirdo out there is undoubtably hunting for, but good luck finding that one guy!

Oh, and before some other fella who wasn't hugged enough as a child says it in a manner lacking this level of refinement... do write yourself a short introduction in the section at the top of the board... and welcome!

Ragtop- yes, I do plan on selling them. No, I don't plan on selling them here. I spent the morning googling and couldn't find any real comparables. I've been reading this board for about 7 years but I usually don't post. I read every board instructions post before posting this. Thanks for your warm welcome and pleasant attitude. This is why I don't usually post. Congratulations on being a message board expert. Tinman, thank you for the info.

Tinman- I'll get right on that intro. I didn't understand where or how to do that and I'm not much for talking about myself but if that's the rules I'm happy to oblige. I'll go back and figure out how and where to do that. I thought I had my profile all filled in.

Yes, you must do an intro, everyone has to. That said, ya gotta admit the subject matter makes it a pretty good first post, those are cool as hell, particularly since the center caps are there. I have a magazine or catalog ad somewhere with these wheels, think it is '66-'67 time period.

  8. Slim,
cool looking set of wheels. I can't seem to find info on them either. I don't believe I have ever seen a set of M/T's like that. Like Tinman said, too bad they are an odd bolt pattern, they would look great on a 60's style custom with some skinny whites.

Measure the bolt pattern - those don't look like 5 on 5.5, BC appears tighter than that. I'll post a pic of the ad if I can locate it, won't be for a few days though.

Great guys, thanks for the info. I posted an intro as well. Sorry for my lack of board savvy.
The pattern is 5 on 5...?

If they're 5 on 5, that would open up the market to Olds and Pontiac guys... which would be good for you. I think they look bigger than that, just based on how far out the stud holes are machined on the hub casting.

So I just dug out my lug pattern ring and verified- they are 5 on 5.5. I'll throw 'em up on eBay tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks for the info!

Ugly? No way. They would look good on a shiny slick 60s F100, that's the right bolt pattern.

Hey simpolski post some pics of your 51 ford, looks like a lot of work went into it. Your wheels are different, never seen another like them but would look cool on a 60's build. ..and welcome to the Hamb.

Hey Slimpolski I was looking at your album on your 51 Ford, it's sure not a "grand ma's " car :D.

Maybe you can post some pics on the door treatment at the roof line. The cut out at the top of the door looks interesting and I'd like to see a little closer how it was done.

They would look so much better without those Mickey Thompson center caps. You can just send them to me for disposal

Will do. It's pretty unique, the guy who chopped it left the quarter window frame and that's it. Those rear windows slide in and out. It's a post car turned into a hardtop, essentially. I bought this car for way more than it was worth because I was so blown away by the chop and section. It's not the most functional, but it's pretty much a one-of-a-kind!

P.S. I think this is a fisheye lens so the picture is distorted.

By the way I hope I'm not breaking a rule saying those wheels are on eBay now with a reserve of $200. I also have a set of 3 whitewall Firestone Deluxe Champion 5.60X13s there.
