Hey how's it going? I am an old hot rodder with a lot of enthusiasim ! I'm going to be asking some questions on my 53 Cranbrook Convertible conversion. I have already put a mustang II type rack and pinion front end. (same frame) with disc brakes and air bags. No kit available for this old guy. Started with a JW Garage for a 48 Plymouth and adapted acordingly. Beefed up to support the Hemi, (900 lbs) and take the stress of the horse power.I have a Currie Ford 9" rear, posi, disc brakes, four bar system with air bags. I have put a 1956 354 Hemi, app. 450hp redone to the max. Cam, two fours, high rise, ram air with cold air intake system, bored stroked, double high domes, over sized valves aluminum heads, Most tricks available besides a blower system. All new wiring harness made by me and Ron Francis Wiring, again nothing made for this one. I had to move the firewall 4 inches and another three inches a square the size of the motor. Fun Times...The hump had to be trippled in size to fit the four speed automatic, basicaly had to redo the entire floorboard.I had to modify the dash to accomidate the Vintage Air system, since most things had to be removed during the huge firewall project, and the only noticeable difference in the interior is the tilt column, same steering wheel Now my current issue... I want a front torsion bar... The old suspension had one, but what would be a start for a new one for this set up? Again there's nothing specificaly designed for this model, duh you figure. But I'm in deep already so what the heck, lets make it right. So I implore all of you Hot Rodders to chime in... Please. Thanks ! Any input will either be appreciated or laughed at accordingly. I laugh at myself and this project all the time !
