I got replacement rubbers from www.oldmoparts.com for the 55 Belvedere. I know which slots are for the gl*** and which are for the metal lip, but I am confused as to which way they should be facing. One side is flat and smooth, seems like it should go facing out, but then there doesn't seem to be anywhere that the trim would fit on. The other side has little slots and folds. In addition, the lip that is on the smooth side is longer and stiffer than the other side (the lip that would hold the gl***), so I am not sure if that is to keep the gl*** from falling in or out. Advice appreciated, will try to get a pic up. Frustrating, because this seems like it should be pretty intuitive.
Smooth side inwards - you need the little lips and fols on the outside to attach the rrim and lock the gl*** into the rubber frame once it is installed
Cool, thanks. I just want to get the ****ers popped in so I can move on to more interesting wrenching, like dual carb/exhaust and painting and the fun stuff.
