    Hi guys

I want to get some louvres punched into the hood of my falcon, but am unsure of the exact layout and number of Louvres.

Was hoping someone had some pics of other falcons with Louvred hoods so I can get some ideas???

    Cheers

    Ron

I'll have to snap a pict of the remaining pelt of my '62s hood... I had about 80 of my 2 1/2" louvers layed out in a pattern that had the same angle as the "hood scoop". It blew off the car going 125 or so one night about twenty years ago, but i have always hung on to the remains 'cause I liked that pattern sooo much. I'll drag it out tomorrow and shoot a pict.

Well, I snuck out for a few today and snapped some picts for you. Like I said, this hood is beat, and it's honestly the third or fourth thing I did on my press probably twenty years ago. Sorry for the odd angles, it's shall we say inaccessible... Now, if I was doing this agian today, I would move the centerlines of the rows closer together so the pattern was just a bit tighter and I wouldn't have to pull so much inner structure. I modified the press years ago to support this kinda stuff. These are my 2 1/2" louvers

I've got one with one louvre............... well, it's probably more of a scoop, and a bit O/T - oh well. Good luck anyway.

At one time that's what I thought too! But nope, I'll be redoing mine fairly soon for my coupe, and probably my Ranchero too.

I think the early ones with the fake hood scoop kind of defeat the idea of louvers, Ive got an early falcon, and have always considered louvering it,(especially coz I have my own louver press!) but its hard to lay it out to look good..in my eyes. I think thats why you arent getting a lot of response.

I absolutely agree Lowsquire. I thought and thought before I ounched the one I did nearly twenty years ago and what is shown is about all I could come up with when working with the lines of the hood. The angle of the louvers accounted for the scoop, and it's kinda hard to tell 'cause that hood is sooooo beat, but the is a tiny bit of splay in the lines to work with the miniscule amount of taper in these hoods. When I redo this hood for my car, I will close the centerlines of the louvers themselves up quite a bit just for bit'cause I'm sure it will look a bit more composed.

If you have an XP, you really need to ask about 61-63 Mercury Comets with louvers as they have the same hood.
