Kinda depends on who you talk to. I have been both years and did well. As with any swap meet, There will be those who think it ****ed. But there are just as many that liked it and will go back. I will definatly go back this year.
Anywhere would be worth the drive to get out of Houston. I lived there 40 years, so glad I don't now. Take the car out for a spin and check out the good life in the country. Breath deep, see some cows, calm down an enjoy life for a day. Hope I didn't offend, but you couldn't pay me to move back.
Hey, Matt was Bootleggers a Car Club there at the Houston Autorama. We gave our Stray Katz Club pick trophy to a guy with a Red and Black chopped top 53 Chevy. Seems like he was down on that end of the show. Oh, to keep this OT I was at Giddings last year.
We were there, but that sounds like our friend Jason Barnett from another club in our area called The Highway Horrors. We will be there this year too! Do you know Kenny with the "blue oval ranch" out near somerville? I recall him saying he was in the stray katz.
I think you are or correct about it being Barnett. I know Kenny very well. He is in our club. Die hard ford man. That was one reason we picked the 53 chevy. Kenny wasn't there. I'll see him next weekend at the Texas Ranger Day Cruise-In in Burton.
It's a two hour drive to Giddings from Houston so not too bad a drive. I went last year and picked up a few parts for my '40 Chevy project. Be aware it is very hot this time of year in Texas. As a plus the new Deli and BBQ joint in Chappel Hill is open and since you have to go by anyway stop and enjoy the food. Huge slices of pie and decent BBQ.
thanks for the positive plug. i am the guy that runs it. could use more car people as vendors. hit me up and i will send a flyer.
I'm going for my 3rd year...its growing every year.....I feel that it has potential to grow...I spend the weekend selling and buying.....it does get warm...well most likely hot....Its worth my time to go...see you there
Giddings is the most wonderful place on the planet to find T-shirts... But I don't know a thing about the swap meet
I went last year and picked up several items at a very good price. I live in conroe and thought it was definately worth the trip. Beats the hell out of staying home and mowing gr***. i would say it's worth the trip. It is hot though. I bought 53 pontiac tail lights and lense for $25.00 and 47 ford backing plates with buick drums for $250 ready to install with bearings. TP
Looking forward to seeing you....My camper has a checker board print awning...I'll be back near camp grounds.....
I went last year for the first time and really enjoyed myself. The people are really nice and I picked up some parts for a 1940's style rail dragster that I am building. See ya'll there.
