As long as they were not professionals They can't be sued for removing him from the burning car even if they did damage by moving him there"s the Good Samaritan Act that was put in place just so people wouldn't fear law suits for trying to help someone like him,Better to remove him from the burning car than let him burn even though removing him could aggravate his injuries.the act covers the general public it would nor cover a professional like a trained Fire Fighter,E.M.T. etc even a professional volunteer.

blown and injected? I think I might have strapped in before putting the key in the hole. maybe put some shoes on.

I'm sure I could have crashed that car just as good as he did before I even had a chance to say "oh goodness". a car like that is like a loaded gun, you got to respect it.

From the looks of the injuries, Scott was not wearing a seat belt/harness, impacted front loop of cage.
Let's see what a couple days brings as far as healing and recovery.
    Prayers sent.

I could see it now, handing a guy a legal do***ent absolving any non-professional rescuers from any liability through the window for him to sign while the car is on fire.

it is a crazy world we live in. common sense has left the building.

Please don't include ME in your "majority of Americans" statement. I'm a business owner too and would have rushed to help this man in need like every American I know, even if it meant risking my own life or getting sued. Maybe hot rodding isn't your bag, perhaps needle point and watching PBS would better suit you.

Wow, said a prayer Scott pulls through.
Crash with a fire is a bad trip. Instantly reminded me of the video of the 32 Vicky on fire and the driver being pulled from the car.

Really great to see people who were quick to jump in and help someone in trouble. The way the world has gotten sometimes people just stand around now and do nothing.

We were just talking about this the other night when we were putting a roll cage in my Son's Capri. Roll cages can sometimes do more damage in a street accident than if you don't have one because they are meant to work when you are wearing a helmet. On the street your unprotected head can strike it and hurt or kill you. There was a recent account of a guy who had an 8 second Camaro he also drives on the street, and he was killed in an accident when he sustained head injuries when his head hit the funny car style hoops.

I hope the guy in the Willys recovers, he didn't look good in that video.

Well done young people! We give them a razzing, but two lads wearing only swimmers didn't hesitate.

My bet is gent with the white T and khaki shorts is ex GI. Didn't appear he was seeing his first rodeo.

Don't let any elected officials see this...

  13. Nope a few years back they p***ed a "good Samaritan law" protecting people from lawsuits for doing such deeds.

On edit, guess i should have read further!

Pretty unfortunate way to look at an incident like this. I'm glad someone set it right bringing up the "Good Samaritan" law. It could be different in the US to Oz but even professionals would not be held liable for removing an occupant from certain peril even if those actions resulted in injury. The definition of certain peril might be looked at a little closer for a professional e.g. I would have probably left that driver in place and extinguished the fire, but those guys did what they thought they had to do. Good for them.

Sue the guy with the video camera. He did a whole lot!
Props to the guys who pulled him out.
Prayers to Scott....hope he gets well!

  20. Jeez-o- Pete! There's car parts all over the neighborhood, wheels and suspension on the other side of the street.
At the end of the clip the guy on the sidewalk says something about "hit the nitrous"

Hope the guy is OK, maybe he could tell his story on why its such a bad idea to that kind of **** in a residential neighborhood.

He called 911 and did offer help at the car.I don't think any of them knew there might be fire suppressant system or hand held fire extinguisher in the car or a nitrous system my guess is they were only thinking of a gas tank. Also didn't look like where the car was there was any way for them to use a garden hose to fight the fire,Best thing to do was get him out and far away from the car and his video shows "NO gross negligence" on the part of his rescuers.

If he was testing the cars limits in a residential neighborhood I am glad he didn't kill an innocent by-stander.
