    My honest opinion?

    DANG!!! That was cool!!!

If you expected the '70s TV show, it isn't it. Don't expect to have any relevations, either, but man, it was cool watching the General "drift" around the turns!! Made me REALLY want to go hang some brodies. Kinda hurt watching so many '69 Chargers bite the dust.....

As for the actors, DAMN!!!!! Jessica Simpson is SO FRICKIN HOT!!!! Phew!!!

I don't remember any of the other actors. There was other actors, right????

Honestly I don't care if it's anything like the show. I loved The series as a kid as well as The A Team which is being made into a movie as well. I think the A Team movie will suck because you just can't replace George Peppard and Mr T.

This General Lee got trashed at the General Lee 25th Anniversary jump in Georgia.

Jerry Mason worked on the Movie......he is a South Carolina guy.....he told me they tore up a bunch of Chargers.....

He also worked on " Days of Thunder "

He sells street rod/hot rod stuff in Spartenburg SC.....and is a big time Ford and FE guy. He also has a 57 Ford 300 with a SOHC 427......

Well i dunno how many of you have seen the movie but i went and saw it on friday, and i thoroughly enjoyed it. Any movie with 60's muscle drifting thru the corners, explosions, wild jumps and carnage... oh and i cant forget Jess as Daisy, makes for a heck of a fun movie in my opinion. I found it to be the same fun that the original was with a bit more added.

Also if anyone reads HOTROD magazine, this past issue had a full feature on the new general and all the extras. 25 were used in this movie. And judging from the damage that you catch clips of as the car lands i would say most if not all jumps were real jumps.

    Lots of fun to see.

I didn't read all of this post so forgive me if this has already been covered.

They were interviewing "Cooter" and he was really pissed because he said they trashed the image of the original cast. He made sense with his arguments. Basically in a nut shell, he said they turned a good family show into a movie about a couple of strung out druggies and a bimbo.

Saw it and loved it. Hated Roscoe, though, and Burt as Boss just didn't feel right. I think Knoxville and Stifler were perfect, and Jessica made me forget Catherine-- she was THAT hot. I'd say VERY little computer effects, maybe just sticking stifler's head in the car on that big jump.

yeah....I don't know if I'll be able to get past Johnny and Stifflers previous roles....they will forver be those two characters in my mind.

The movie is getting terrible reviews (yeah I know, to each their own, and reviews don't mean crap)....but I'm not holding out high hopes for it.

Don't quote me on this, even slightly, but I think I heard someone say somewhere that they had like 8 or 9 General Lee's for this movie....so maybe the crashes are real.

  14. I saw the movie it destroyed whatever impact the original show had on fans but it derfinately kicked ass seein that charger tearin up the road again...it beats wathchin those stupid tuners and ganstas in the fast and the furious...maybe ittl bring some well earned respect back to american muscle over those stupid jap traps

Haven't seen it yet maybe this weekend. I think nobody will forget their first roles since everybody I know calls him Stifler too. Did anyone see the last Rides. They built that charger for Kenny Wayne Shepard. Other than the wheels I liked how it turned out. I remember climbing in and out of my Mom's 69 ford custom 500 sedan when the show first came out. I tried to slide across the hood, but she wouldn't let me,lol. I know you guys did that too, come on fess up.

  16. Ya think Hollyweird would have better things to do then remake, old TV shows. Kathy Bach and I go back, so this is just another remake I will NEVER watch.

  17. From Hot Rod, August 2005, page 68: "According to the "Picture Car Key List" provided to HRM by John Wiser, the production's picture car buyer, a total of 26 Chargers were used to portray the Dukes' flying Dodge during filming. That's 14 '69 Chargers, eight '68 Chargers, and four '70 models."

Caption page 66 "The crappier the car, the more likely it was sacrificed during production in a crash or jump."

The car used to jump in front of the courthouse actually did two jumps; it survived the first one reasonably intact but the jump was too short, so it was done again (this time, the car was pneumatically shot) and parts of both jumps were used in the film - just like the TV show got to be after a while.

Only one had a Hemi, was used as a "hero car" during filming; it actually belongs to Warner Brothers and was used in the TV show too. Would appear about 20 were wrecked to some degree, which is about right (didn't it take 17 '58 Plymouths to film Christine, not including the rubber one?)

I think you'll find virtually all the crashes are real - you can still find Chargers, it's not like trying to scare up 30 '27 Dodge coupes for a film where people know you're going to wreck most of them.

I remember seeing a made for TV movie a long time ago that had Roscoe and the General Lee in it. The Duke boys were really moonshiners, the General was their old stock car resting in a barn and Roscoe was a mean SOB. Like Dukes of Hazzard, but hard and mean. Was that the pilot movie?
I also went to Covington, Ga when I was a kid to see where some of the first episodes were filmed. My dad's Army buddy lived there.
I watched that damn show every week. Looking back, the show really sucks. I will go see the movie, though. Drive ins!

  19. "Moonrunners". Made 1973. Same producer (Gy Waldron). About the only thing the same outside of names was Waylon narrating. No Daisy, either. Not a pilot, per se, more like a predecessor. Wrecked up some '69 or so Plymouth sedans in that one. To me it's like a takeoff on "Gator" with Burt Reynolds. In fact if you cross Gator with Smokey & The Bandit, I think you get the Dukes TV show.

Man I need to go to bed, I'm ready for Dukes of Hazzard week on Jeopardy or something.

  22. They filmed it in my hometown, same one I used to play Dukes in. :)

There jumps were better than mine

It will be weird seeing the General Lee tearing up my old turf.

    Duh.

I expect it to be remade very soon. Hell, Burt might even be pushing for it.

That's why I need to find a black T/A now, before they get more expensive.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.. Hollywood doesn't understand rural america. Rural america is FUNNY, and there should be movies that depict this humor. The problem is that Hollywood never hits the target right. The funniest guy in the movie is Farva from SuperTroopers as Sheev. THAT character is POSSIBLE in rural Iowa (I know people JUST like him)

The rest is just fake southern accents, horrible acting, and poo-pooing all over what the original principles of the TV show were. In the TV show, you had good american "true modern day robin hoods." In the 2005 movie, you have two Dude Where's My car sorts bumblefucking through life. There is a good cause (saving the farm) but no moral to learn, and the Duke boys actually shoot and blow up a cop car.

Their Roscoe totally blew the move (amoung other things) I mean this COULD have been a movie about a fast Mopar and been just a crappy movie, but it's just a damn shame they painted it like the general lee and tried to make a movie about it. Uncle Jesse never smoked weed in the TV show. I was kinda sad about that, but when I was a kid I thought Willie Nelson did look like uncle jesse.

Mostly it just blows to watch a 2 hour movie that everyone around you is laughing at, but you just can't take, being from rural america and knowing that this is NOT what it's like, but that rural america IS FUNNY.
