well after mocking up the TCI MII kit, Walton's kit, C.Engineering rear end kit and TCI's brake set up kit. then pulling the frame off and takeing it to get sandblasted. i finally got it into paint. everything was fabbed first, some bondo, primer and finally paint. the suspension pieces will be painted tomorrow and start putting it back together real soon. here's some quick pics.
A BIG THANKS GOES OUT TO LGH1157 FOR COMING OUT AND HELPING ME LAST WEEK FOR 3 DAYS ON PREPPING THE FRAME.....
rad! nice work low springs! hey you would'nt happen to live up in the hills off of del mar would you?
That frame looks great, it will be a great foundation for sure. What did you spray it with paint-wise?
very nice. another one with the sickness. just doing the frame is not enough, must remove body and make the entire frame look good.
Yes I am the one with the sickness, I must admit. Thats my ride and I think I am the car that broke Dante's back....lol I couldnt help myself, when I thought of all the new suspenion pieces I wanted to put on it I couldnt bring myself to put them on a dirty frame. That car sat in Arizona for 30 years it had some pretty heavy caked on dirt clay.
brother, you are a friggin' stud! you are definately getting the nod when we do the bodywork on the firebird. if you need custom work done...you NEED to have low-springs hook it up. you'll never meet a nicer guy and his work is fabulous!
yup! this car belongs to Tbone... boy does he have patience. the frame was caked on with alot of dirt, oil, mud and all kinds of stuff. the frame will be hidden but you'll have plenty of pride when someone leans down to check under the car. it was painted with Eastwood Chasiss paint. this makes my second frame off 54 Chevy 2dr. and i have 3 in my yard right now. you might say i have become a specialist on these yrs 49-54. Thanks guys for the pat on the back.
Awesome work Dante! I'm jealous my frame doesn't look anywhere near that nice, ran out of patience quicker than I ran out of beer
I was going for the chopped and slammed look, but when I saw Aaron's chevy's from US Kustoms I fell in love with the 60's style, scalloped and heavy metal flake. As of yet I can not nail down a color. Maybe one day I will ask someone to photoshop something. It will for sure stand out. Not to worry D I got all the time for you , and this ride is NOT DONE BABY !!! we still got some body work later, once your settled in your new place I figure we can do some piece by piece work. If your still up for it.
Good shit bro! That frame looks great. I love the custom frame to jack stand holder in the last pic. I must have one!!
yea. that frame looks really nice. your on your way to a really kick ass car. the frame alone is something to be proud of. nice job
yeah it's not to often that i see the garage floor. it's always covered in bondo dust. i don't even sweep up anymore. i use a vacum cleaner.
If you can believe this 5 years and I'm bringing it back! Maybe someone cares, I had to put this car away for 5 years. After I got it back from Dante had no more money to finish. Had one more kid and Changed jobs twice since then. While the car sat in my garage I had always wished to start it up again and I was always looking for the parts to change the front end back to 54. When I got it, it had 53 grill and I thought simple change grills (not simply) everything but the hood has to be changed ( didn't know that when I started). Low on funds the last 5 years I always searched for the parts, about 3 years back found a post on the list for 54 chevy fenders in Murrieta, next town over. Meet the guy bought the fenders same time he also pulled out the front bumper, splash pan, and radiator support. Gave me a sweet deal. Sold my 53 front fenders, grill, and bumper to almost pay for all of it. Find out Member of the Hamb Then two years ago I run into a hot rod shop in the backyard of where I was working at the time (Vista) Colima's Custom's (insert plug) nice guys over there. I admired their work for a bit stopping in on occasion to see what they were up to. Still low on funds I asked them if they would weld my hood making it a one piece and Peak it. Did a amazing job and wasn't bad on price at all. Still hurting for funds, kids getting bigger. Still searching for parts. I saw another post on the list last year for 54 chevy trim, didn't need the trim but clicked the link anyway. In the pictures he posted I see 54 chevy grills hanging from the rafters of his shop. Call him up find out he has two grills. Drive out there ( Hemet) meet with him. Make a deal to buy 2 grills he has and extra teeth. Some parts of grill were better on one then the other so I bought two to make one super nice one. Super nice guy, Also find out member of the Hamb fast forward to my new job last year, some extra funds. Not much but some extra to help, looking for a reliable someone to help me finish the ride. I find once again another post on the list of someone doing chassis work, metal fabrication, you name it. Liked what I saw. Come to find out small worlds hes buds with someone working in my office. We meet and I gave him a laundry list of items to take care of. Finish installing my front MII kit, run brake lines, patch my floors ( not rusted enough for full panels), replace the rockers, Setup steering, and smooth my firewall. Come to find out Member of Hamb, Dustin (Meyer Chassis) here in Temecula. He's doing a amazing job and kicking ass. I you need anything metal, rust repair, chassis work, four links, fabrication whatever check this guy out. www.meyerchassis.com More to come soon and some pics
Here's some of his work on my rockers. Only the passenger side needed replacement, but we had to go over the wheel as well.
