Mr. Haas, that is a very nice, realistic build. The dirt on the tires looks authentic, like it just came off the track...
This will be a bit different - I found some mid-70s photos I shot of the Old Town ******s and NeuChamps model car displays at the Chicago World of Wheels show. Too bad they were shot with an Instamatic...
Gang, These aren't my builds, but ones that saw yesterday at a big model show in Orlando. Sorry I don't know the builder's names. As I'm into the 1/8th stuff now, I liked the big rod a lot - a very clean build, but the LSR style cars seemed appropriate for this week. Gary See: http://www.ipms2012.org/
Yea I see one model on that dio that I would kill to have!!! The mod squad merc woody!!! I have been searching for that kit for years! That was my first model I ever had! Several other rare kits like you said! Awesome setup that I would love to have, I have thought about doing something like that myself but I am too picky any more, and it takes me way too long to build one model, it would take me many years to ever finish something like that! I attended my first Old Town ******s swap meet at Hillside, IL in either 80 or 81 at the ripe old age of 12-13. This was a huge deal as I lived (still do) in Iowa and it was a 4 hour drive and my parents made a mini vacation out of it once a year. The point is I bought the Cutl*** and Cadillac pictured below at that first swap meet and I still have them. I think they were $1 each in a bargin box on the floor. The good old days! These diorama pictures absolutely make my day! Thanks a ton for posting them! Carmak Riverside, Iowa
If you look in the upper left corner of my showcase behind the blue 67 Chevy tow truck you will see the Silver Cutl***. Carmak Riverside, Iowa
Cool to know some of those models are still around - I built several of them for my own junkyard diorama (which I traded to the OTE guys for some unbuilt kits). The "09" '57 Chevy stocker was one; the school bus with the rusty Deuce on top was another.
I remember my first IPMS swap meet, would have been about 85. It was a strange experience after normal car swap meets! It opened after judging of the annual national ***les and everyone was lined up at the door like it was a race! It kinda was for the first half dozen people they literally ran in there looking for specific kits I guess! Doc.
Is there any rules to model car sundays? Cause i dont have much time to build, so my progress is slow, didn't know if one could post up pictures of one in the middle of a build?
Went to the CKM / NNL 5th Annual Model Car Show this weekend in Clemmons, NC. Here are some of the ones I liked. Here is a link to the gallery.... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/album.php?albumid=35489
Yes, you can start your own thread on your build. We try to keep within the HAMB guidelines iere 64 cars but we are flexible on that. Also try to keep the build traditional in style, no billet wagons. Just avoid things like Ferrari's, Lamborghini and all that modern ****. Doc.
Since we seem to be adding to last week's thread this week, here's some pics of newly plated brightwork for a couple current projects... '59 Sunliner, before... after (taillights are original)... '58 Sunliner, before, with custom grill fitted... after...
