I bought this today really cheap with intentions of cutting out parts of it to patch portions of my 1950 coupe.....like portions of the quarters and the trunk floor plus the fenders and stuff are better than mine etc..etc... BUT now that I got it home I am thinking that maybe I shouldn't do that to a rough old original paint car....what do you guys think? cut it up for patch pannels on my car or keep it together and try to find a ***le for it and save it sometime in the distant future when I get all my other projects done?? Here is the coupe that I plan on cutting it apart to fix.
Is it more solid than the coupe. I'm into those areas on my coupe right now and I would be surprised to find good solid replacement metal on another car. Ive purchased EMS panels for mine.
i'm on the "save it for later" team as well. it won't be THAT much better for patch panels, and any rolling body in tudor style, coupe or sedan is worth keeping intact for the next guy. time was, unless it WAS a coupe or convertible, it was fair game for s****ping out.... but times have changed.
For a western Pa car that one is very clean. I would have a hard time cutting that one up, plus, it is a tudor. The old gal deserves a second shot at life and since you think you found the ***le that really cinches the deal. All of us have cut up or s****ped cars in the past that we now kick ourselves for. Don
Dont cut it,just fab new floors to the coupe.I've noticed that sometimes things arent what they look like.I've found a lot of hidden cancer and heavy pitting on my projects floor pans from the spots that looked like solid.its just easier to cut the pitted pans off and fab brand new panels.
You can buy NEW patch panels, why trash a savable car? From what I see they both have a lot of rust issues. The parts on the parts car are most likely full of rust .When you cut into the parts car you will find it was a mistake. Sell the parts car and use the $ for NEW patch panels. The parts car looks like a good candidate for a full all out custom job.
No way in h3!! Would I cut it up but it is yours and you have to live with your choice. But I think you would be much happier in the long run if you just got sheet metal for them pached
Well I found a good home for the sedan for the time being......... a friend on here asked me to find him an old car for yard art........ So I hauled it to his place, it will be on gravel and under a roof so it will be preserved until either he decides to buy it from me and build it OR I get a few more of my projects finished and get the itch to work on it. I also cleaned it out a bit and put better tires on it that hold air well. I am going to swap the front fenders off it though for my coupe sometime.. since they have less dents and a bit less rust.
Yea I am with everyone here keep it. for the trunk floor, you can make your own. I have seen some ones on here in far worse condition being done.
