I did one years ago.Just unscrew the end cap, remove the steering shaft, take the seal out of the housing and replace with a freeze out plug. Then you have to drill or machine a hole in the end cap to fit the seal in then just install the steering shaft the other way.I had a machine shop take care of the hole in the end cap.If the seal is good all you have to buy is the freeze out plug.Good Luck
I have a buddy who did this just recently. Send me a PM and I'll forward it to him and see if he'll show you how.
checkout nationaltbucketalliance.com look under technical pages under forums, and there is a great article with pics. Im not sure how to cut and paste on a MAC or i would post a link
There's one a little more recent in Hot Rod Deluxe. I think I did it last year for a tech article. My office is in a... "transitional" phase right now, so I don't know what issue it would have been in. -Brad
did the same thing to a early manual camaro box just last night, one thing a had to to different was also reverse the sector gear so it would run square in the box. i wanted something a little beefier for my t- coupe build but still retain the traditional steering. if you take you time and pay attention it will work well
