so i have done a little bit of research and still haven't found the correct answer im looking for... maybe someone can chime in and help me out a little bit. i have a 54 buick special with the 264 and the dyna slow ******. love the motor but hate the ******. so my question is will a trans out of a 61 or 62 buick lesabre with a 364 motor and what looks to be a th400 fit onto my 264 with minimal work.
No, not without an adapter plate. The only other trans I am aware of that will bolt up is the 3 speed manual. In my wagon I have a '54 264 (originally a dynaflow engine) bolted to a '56 3 speed. Also if you change transmissions you will need a drive shaft and a different rear end/ rear suspension to do away with the torque tube. Ryland
If the trans out of the 61 or 62 is stock, it is not a th400. The 400 was from 64[non switch pitch ] 65-66 switch pitch
ok thank you. there is a guy on craiglist selling some early 60s buick parts (motors and ******s) i just want to get the right stuff to do the conversion without spending a ton of cash or hehawing around on stuff i dont need. thanks to you guys on here it makes life a lot easier for me
