Has anyone heard where the rod week tours are going to be this year? I have been doing the wed and thurs tours for a few years and this year i have vacation for the whole week,pretty excited but the tours arent up on their site yet.
A great week this year, just like every year! Hot Rod Week 2012, August 20-23 Hot Rod Week is back and better than ever for 2012! Four big days of guided driving tours to shops and places of interest in the San Francisco Bay Area and other close by regions in Northern California is what it’s all about! Hot Rod Week serves as a fun activity for locals as well as out of town visitors attending the annual West Coast Nationals in Pleasanton. Everybody is welcome to come along! No registration is required and there is no fee! Just show up at the Pleasanton Hilton at 8am each morning, get a tour map and head off with the pack to join the Hot Rod Week Fun! All tours leave the back parking lot of the Hilton at 8:30am sharp! Monday 8/20 – Sacramento Area Hot Rod Week 2012 opens with an 80 mile trip up to California’s Capital City! The first stop will be a visit with our good friend Darold Kohout and the gang at Sacramento Vintage Ford to see what they’re up to. Then it’s over to R.C. Hobbies for a look at one of the world’s foremost collections of model trains, planes, slot cars, boats and more! From R.C. we’ll head to Gary Matranga’s place to see his collection of rods & race cars before our final stop of the day at Tim Lohey’s Rod Shop in Rio Linda Tuesday 8/21 – San Joaquin Delta Area Day two we’ll head to California’s fertile San Joaquin valley to visit Street Rods Plus in Lodi (home of the Lodi Mini Nats – Gary “Goodguy’s” first ever hot rod show in 1973), Mustang’s Plus in Stockton before ending the day at Leonard Lopez’ Dominator Street Rods in Tracy, CA. Dominator’s spotless and state of the art facility always has some amazing builds coming together! Wednesday 8/22 – South Bay Area The internationally famous Silicon Valley is the backdrop for day three and kicks off with a stop at Jeff Twitchell’s Hot Rod Service Company in Campbell, CA. Known for his expertise in engine building and engineering, Jeff will have some V8 eye candy and cool hot rods to gawk at. From there we’ll head down historic highway 17 to the scenic Scotts Valley region to Bruce Canepa Design to see what cutting edge motorsport projects they’re working on. We’ll end the day by heading back to Campbell for a stop at Campbell Auto Restoration and High Performance Center. These guys specialize in hi performance muscle cars! Thursday 8/23 – East Bay The amazing Hot Rod Week journey wraps up with a tour of the Livermore valley. First up is the state of the art showroom of CTR Motors. See over 50 classic automobiles for sale! Everything from European sports cars to beefy American Muscle is available here. Craig Hill’s Top of the Hill Performance Center is next up. Since 1988, Top of the Hill has specialized in the complete building, restoring, repairing and maintaining of all types of performance vehicles. We’ll then head over to Rich Moore’s Revolution Rod & Custom before ending our week at the world renowned Blackhawk Automotive Museum where Hot Rod Week planner Fred Zimmerman works as a docent (so you know we’ll get the “inside” tour!) Friday, August 24th through Sunday August 26th it’s time for the Goodguys 26th West Coast Nationals. An entire weekend of good times is on hand for the silver anniversary of the West Coast Nationals!
