I got this 700R4 and can't seem to locate the right dust shield for it. Does anyone know what model this is? It has hookup for eletric speedo.

Don't know, but I'll be tracking this as I'm having the same problem. Have already tried the Speedway model with no luck. Headed to boneyard next.

Don't hold me to it but TH 350 and 400 might be the same cover.

  5. Some of these had cast aluminum shields for HD apps. Don't know specifics but I remember seeing them back in the 80's. Those had 5/16 ( I think) bolts that went all the way through cover and case and had nuts instead of being sheet metal screws.

I think they were on 4x4s and had struts to tie in to the motor mounts?

A TH400 will fit, just use the 2 metric bolts on the drivers side. Fits fine and clears everything, I've been running mine that way for 40,000 miles with no issues.

  8. THAT'S it try 4 wd forums.

  9. Don't run one, it'll allow for more air for a cooler converter.

Yeah, that makes sense. I'm certain that the millions of dust shields put on by GM for the past fifty years were simply installed by them to overheat their trannies...

They only did it to save the cats!

  12. They're put there for esthetics and safety.

Most people know that eliminating one allows for more airflow to the converter.

    Most people!

Most people know that drilling holes in your radiator will give you less wind resistance, too. C'mon man, you can do better than that....
