I'm off to look at a Model A sedan body and frame tomorrow and plan to bring it home on a boat trailer I have if I do make a deal on it.

Any one have a general Idea of what a bare Model A Sedan body and frame weights? No interior and no running gear.

Frame with running board stanchians and brake cross tube no more than 200 lbs.
I'd say the body is less than 500. (just a guess, verified by the way my back reacted when I read the question...)

Last body we lifted took 4 guys, and I was one of 'em. Model A Tudor, 1930.

There is nothing to them. We hauled this 30 tudor home from the Panhandle of Florida on my little utility trailer that is built from a motorcycle trailer. The seller, my Son, and I carried it from his garage to the trailer so I am guessing the body is no more than 400 pounds. The frame, if bare, is probably no more than 100 or so pounds.

Your boat trailer will not even know it is there.

That's pretty close to what I was thinking. I've got a tandem axle boat trailer that I think I can take sheet of plywood and a couple of 4x6's with and raise the front of the frame up and slip the trailer under it and ratchet it on and tie it down.

After seeing Don's photo I might use the frame I have that is for a Tear drop trailer and has Ford wide Fives on it.

Yeah, if it was even a single axle boat trailer you would be fine. A tandem will carry it with no sweat.

The teardrop one should work too. How far are you going ? We hauled that tudor body 10 hours and had no problems.

It's about 70 miles to where it's at Don. I carried a 51 Chevy truck cab home on the boat trailer a while back and it towed great with it on it. That boat trailer seems to get used for everything except boats but it only cost 50 bucks with a clear ***le and tows great.

I've hauled a lot of cars on boat trailers. Just move the bunks in to fit the body and put most of the weight in front of the axle so there is some weight bias on the tongue. A tandam axle trailer typically is made to haul a boat that is well over 1000 pounds, depending on the length of the boat, so the tudor body will be nothing.

    Have fun.

I used the boat trailer and with the help of the sellers biker Nephew who could probably have set the body on the trailer by himself we got it loaded.

That old 50.00 Craigslist boat trailer towed great with the 31 Victoria body and frame on it.

It is, 31 Victoria. It will get the flathead I bought last year. I've got another thread started on it.

I'm thankful for the gent who's mom volunteered his time and strength to help load it and try to refuse a bit of cash in the process. The cash will put a few gallons of gas in his Harley though. Mary her son Curtis and his family are some great people.

It's most likely going to need a driver's door. It's buckled a bit and pretty well rusted out. The only serious cancer on the car except a place on the top right above the driver's door.
