Found this laying in the corner of my shop, when we moved in here 6 years ago, I just stuff in all of my junk, so adding in the Lathe and Bridgeport, I am doing a MAJOR cleaning, and found this laying in the corner, after I knocked down an old wooden shelf.....
Hay Falcon, Did you leave the lens cover on when you took the picture or was it real foggy that day. Would like to know what it is. ................Jack
$31.90 to register a vehicle (2 years) in 1942!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In the hard times of WW2 and gas rationing? That sure makes my fees here this year seem like chicken feed. Gary
Exactly what I thought! That would probably be equivalent to $400 or so now. Very cool find. So I am assuming Alvin and La Mar lived in your house?
In some states, this is all you need to get an old car titled, and if that motor number isn't being used, that could be a very valuable piece of paper to the right guy.
The taxable weight is 5100 lbs. That's a pretty big '33 Ford, probably a commercial license for a big stakebed farm truck.
Its probably larger then a 1/2 ton due to the weight, has anyone priced what it cost to license 1 1/2 ton and larger trucks today.
My detective skills and highly trained calibrated eyeballs tell me it IS for a farm truck. cause is says it right at the top of the paper.
Its people like YOU that fuck up the grading curve by actually USING your brain. Please stop so that the rest of the country doesn't feel so bad. Cosmo P.S. You'll never make it on reality TV...
It was licensed for two and a half tons, so it was a pretty big truck. I bought farm plates for a truck with a GVW of 49,000 back in the 90s and it was around $200 per quarter year.
Here in Alabama farm equip gets the best rates on insurance, registration, taxes, off road fuel, etc. That was expensive
Very cool find. So I am assuming Alvin and La Mar lived in your house? No, that area is 30 miles away, and 32 bucks, just what I thought, that was a BOAT load of money...my daddy in 1965, raising 4 kids, made $60 a week.......in 1965......
"Earnhart".....hmmmmm....I wonder who Dale Earnhart's parents were, and where did they live? (Then, maybe it's spelled differently.) Roger
Cool! after my Grandpa passed away we found about 500 titles from cars he junked back in the 50-60's,geez the prices he paid from junkers.i have maybe 100-150 of those titles that i'm going frame for art, some states had cool titles..
I think BB refers to it being a 4 cylinder truck Here's ol' Alvin in the 1940 Census, along with his son LaMar 1940 United States Federal Census about Alvin H Earnhart <table class="p_resultTable" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%" border="0"><tbody><tr> <th>Name:</th> <td>Alvin H Earnhart</td> </tr> <tr> <th>Age:</th> <td>44</td> </tr> <tr> <th>Estimated Birth Year:</th> <td>abt 1896</td> </tr> <tr> <th>Gender:</th> <td>Male</td> </tr> <tr> <th>Race:</th> <td>White</td> </tr> <tr> <th>Birthplace:</th> <td>Ohio</td> </tr> <tr> <th>Marital Status:</th> <td>Married</td> </tr> <tr> <th>Relation to Head of House:</th> <td>Head</td> </tr> <tr> <th>Home in 1940:</th> <td>Lebanon, Warren, Ohio View Map</td> </tr> <tr> <th>Street:</th> <td>State Route 42</td> </tr> <tr> <th>Farm:</th> <td>Yes</td> </tr> <tr> <th>Inferred Residence in 1935:</th> <td>Rural, Warren, Ohio</td> </tr> <tr> <th>Residence in 1935:</th> <td>Rural, Warren, Ohio</td> </tr> <tr> <th>Sheet Number:</th> <td>5B</td> </tr> <tr> <th>Number of Household in Order of Visitation:</th> <td>116</td> </tr> <tr> <th>Neighbors:</th> <td>View others on page </td> </tr> <tr> <th>Household Members:</th> <td class="p_embedTableTd"> <table class="p_embedTable" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="0" width="100%" align="center" border="0"> <tbody><tr> <th style="padding-right:7px" class="p_embedTableHead" valign="top" width="50%" align="left">Name</th> <th style="padding-right:7px" class="p_embedTableHead" valign="top" width="50%" align="left">Age</th> </tr> <tr class="p_embedTableRow" valign="top"> <td style="padding-right:7px" width="50%" align="left">Alvin H Earnhart</td> <td style="padding-right:7px" width="50%" align="left">44</td> </tr> <tr class="p_embedTableRow" valign="top"> <td style="padding-right:7px" width="50%" align="left">Rachel V Earnhart</td> <td style="padding-right:7px" width="50%" align="left">43</td> </tr> <tr class="p_embedTableRow" valign="top"> <td style="padding-right:7px" width="50%" align="left">Lamar M Earnhart</td> <td style="padding-right:7px" width="50%" align="left">23</td> </tr> <tr class="p_embedTableRow" valign="top"> <td style="padding-right:7px" width="50%" align="left">Earl E Earnhart</td> <td style="padding-right:7px" width="50%" align="left">17</td> </tr> <tr class="p_embedTableRow" valign="top"> <td style="padding-right:7px" width="50%" align="left">Alton A Earnhart</td> <td style="padding-right:7px" width="50%" align="left">16</td></tr></tbody></table></td></tr></tbody></table>
I like the way Lebabob was changer to Lebanon. Now days you'd have to fill out 3 different forms and have it inspected by at least two DMV people to fix that.
