firing order reference & doubles as garage art

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 31Vicky with a hemi, Aug 20, 2012.

  1. They should hire a proofreader. I don't know about the others, but they have flathead firing order wrong.

Should be 1-5-4-8-6-3-7-2, not 1-5-8-6-3-3-7-2. You'd think someone might've noticed no 4th cylinder.

That is true art. Only we get it.

I've never had to "Red Mark" a Vango though. The Flathead Ford's a big one here.

I'm still gonna hang it up Red Marked & all. Thanks Vicky

  8. 272 thru 312 Y Blocks all had the distrubutors in the back,,,didn't they?

    OK! 2 - Red Marks:

1 - Flathead Ford Firing Order is as follows 1-5-4-8-6-3-7-2

2 - Y-Block Distributor is located on the rear of the block

It's art with character. Kind of like some of our cars. It's still art.

I run a single cylinder Weslake motor. I've never had a problem with the firing order. Mine is 1.

    Beat me to it! Thanks.

I'm going to enlarge it at work and laminate it for the wall.

My turn. With corrected Mopar small block distributor rotation, Y Block distributor placement, flathead firing order and Buick Nailhead distributor placement:

Yeah. It looks like they skipped the early Hemis altogether.

  23. Ha, the original and corrected next to each other should make a great "what's different" picture puzzle for the msd guys.

  24. Still wundering where they hide the distributor on the LS ... must be majik!

The early Hemis can be listed with the SB Chrysler. Same position, same rotation, same order.

At one point, I had a LOT of these memorized.
    St. 4 = 1-3-4-2 except the english Ford 1.6 and a 60s-early 70s Toyota 1-2-4-3
    st. 6 = 1-5-3-6-2-4
    V6s are all over.

The tough one was the non-trad Jag V12.
    A bank and B bank, not 1-12.

And what do you have that out run a flathead at 7.72 seconds in a quarter mile at 175 MPH?

Well I just wasted two sheets of paper printing two wrong pages.
I just hope that someone else doesn't correct the missing four cylinders on the VW.
