as a panelbeater body man ,, this idea has been around for many years, a peice of 2inch pipe with a 3mm to 5mm wall also has a similar effect ...
cant say ive seen a pvc pipe used ,, however is definitely usuable

    great tip !!

Sheesh, and I thought when I read "low buck dent repair" it was going to be a toilet plunger.

The same thing can be done with a dead blow hammer as the dolly.

What I use is a cut off 1lb Horrible Fright dead blow. They come with flat ends, I left one flat and ground the other into a slight crown.

I whipped up a quick demo,, using my new Baliegh Inc english wheel and some .040 aluminum.

I didnt spend a whole lot of time on it as it was just for a demo so you'll have to forgive the wheeling marks.

Knocked a high spot and a low spot into it, give it a guide coat and sanded it so they would show in the pics

Worked the high spot out with the crowned end of the hammer underneath, hammering from the topside,

and the low spot out on the flat side hammering on the backside,,

Took all of 3 minutes to work them out.

Its easier to use the hammer head as a dolly as there is some wieght to it, its easier to hang onto and since its a dead blow there is very little rebound.

I didnt post this to steal anyones thunder, just hoping to p*** on yet another useful technique to those that are interested.

My apologies if I offend anyone.

Very cool. Always great stuff to learn on the HAMB. I wish school had been this interesting. I might have paid more attention.
