So I have this 52 IH L130...not my first, probably not my last. I went bone stock and didn't like the drivability.....so...rip out engine, trans, axles, suspension. Now I have a 1967 C-10 donor truck.... rear under under the IH, front cross memeber from the c10 unbolted and placed under the IH frame, I still need to make spacers and drill the holes, but it should mount up fairly easy. 6.2 diesel and turbo 400 out of an 84 chevy truck for power. I've not gotten much done as I travel lots for work. I will post some photos of this project soon.
Some of the guys here are not diesel fans, but I like the idea of diesel repower on some of these older trucks... Can't wait to see pics.
I can understand, to each their own. I've just always liked the sound of a diesel. I also make my own fuel...LOL
here are the photos! from top left clockwise: When first brought home, after engine rebuild, current project with chevy front cross member, and interior after some touch ups!
Haven't gotten much done, did start tearing the diesel motor down. At 175k miles she looks brand new inside. I've decided to simply put new gaskets and paint and run her as is. I wanted to open it up an at least look though before I got the truck put together. Still need to make some spacers to mount the Chevy cross member to the IH frame. This is the only truck I own and as a homeowner I sure could use it!
I wanted to drop a little update.... Putting the IH on a 64 Cheby frame with the 6.2 diesel.... here's some progress pics.... Obviously the cab needs to come forward, but my small block motor mounts are about an inch too short for the diesel.... Gonna get that ironed out, then on to the cab
