OK, now, I'm officially a hot rodder! No more O/T wannabe junk, a real, by god Henry!
I've been working on this gentleman since just after Cris p***ed away in November, and we finally made the deal today.
1947 Ford Super Deluxe V8 Two Door. virtually stock, unrestored, showing 61,000 miles. I've owned more than sixty cars, and I could easily be convinced that is real mileage. 59A-B, runs like a sewing machine, shifter was recently rebuilt, smooth as silk.
It needs a lot! The mice found it since last time the barn, yes it really is a barn find, was opened, and it smells like mouse pee.
No problem, one of the first things on it's long list is a Tomato Red Naugahyde roll&pleat interior.
I have issues with lighting that have to be attended to, and I want to install turn signals, these ****heads around here have no idea what a hand out the window means. Rub out and buff a poorly done satin paint job, and some striping, and we are done!
I'm so stoked I could pee my pants!
I have several more pics, if one of you geezers could explain to me in geezer talk just how to load multiple images on a single post. The kids have tried, they might as well be speaking Navajo. Guess I'll have to change my avitar!
    Wow!! WEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! Mike :D

Go to Photobucket.com...it's free...or open an account...put your pix on there, then copy the link and paste the link here...paste as many links as you want...

  4. 40 stude dude, I've been using imageshack. It's easier for an old man like me to work with.
There must be some way of including more than one image per thread.

Ah, photobucket is just as easy. I don't know much about imageshack...but there is a way...just hit "edit" on your first post, put a link (if that's how you do it) into the "reply" portion, hit "save" and there ya go...

  7. You can upload them to your albums here, then left click on pic, so it comes up bigger. You then scroll down to the bottom of pic, and theres two URL lines. copy both, then paste into your post. Very easy, and works a treat.
    Hope this helps.

Whatever. I've been talking to my neighbor, who does the most amazing paint jobs, and his advice for the paint is to buy myself a cheap buffer and just buff out what is there.
Runs, cracks, orange peel, Jimmy's advice is "the more shine you put in that black, the more flaws are going to show." Since my build theme is to replicate a high school car from around 1965-66, a mediocre amateur looking paint job is going to be right in there.
Especially on a driver. I'm also going to get the interior guy to understand my build theme, and the fact that it's a driver. Need a pair of cutouts just under the front of the doors.

Heads are marked 59A-B. Little flattie is superb! The P/O has brand new water pumps, and is convinced they need to be put in, but I drove it home, about ten or so miles, about 30 minutes in traffic, and some water loss, but I think that was from an overfull radiator. Wasn't any on the driveway after I parked it.
I don't have any lights at all, front or back, so that is my first task. It has to be roadworthy first.

This going to be more fun than putting soap in the fountain at the Ft Worth Botanical Gardens!....Of course, I wouldn't know anything about that.......

  17. I kept the 350 out of my old altered. I'll have to put some thick headgaskets and a softer cam than that 292 deg. solid lifter Crower, but yeah, when the old flattie kraps it's self I have a replacement.
I'm going to start collecting parts for the swap ahead of time. Adapter, motor mounts, pulleys etc. I think I'll get a small cap HEI so it will look 60's.
Can I get tall finned valve covers so I can keep my roller rockers?

  19. Yeah, I thought I had a decent paint job until I washed it!!
And it still smells like mouse pee!!

:DHi Mike.NICE find. For the mouse piss.A friend of mine had an old Ford given to him years ago.Used Dakins solution(thats one 8oz measuring cup of Clorox(R) mixed with one gallon of water).Had to wash the interior TWICE to get it done, but it worked. The cloth interior was removed before washing the bare metal.
    Good luck.Have fun.Be safe.

  22. Nice Car-Really like the Tudor's-you're gonna have a lot of fun with that one
For the mouse pee-you could try scrubbing the upholstery and carpet with a soapy, upholstery cleaner with a little Lysol or other disenfectant mixed in-Then **** it up with a wet vac-leave the doors open and let it air-dry.

One of my friends was a car dealer at one time. He said to put a couple of new tires in your car on a hot day and it will smell new. One of his tricks from car trading. Maybe it will help, Harley

Nice ride, but put a different air cleaner on it those things withthe chinese filter elements fow about what a briggs and stratton needs. Or at least double up the elements for some better breathing.

Not so fast Spanky. You have to hotrod it first before you can call yourself a hot rodder. What are your plans for that old boot? It has potential for a custom maybe. Hotrod? Well that remains to be seen. What are your plans for this old Ford? (All this is done with a wee bit of humor. No malice is intended)
