I was wondering because I have contacted him probably 4 times over the last year via PM here on the HAMB and after repeated attempts here, tried contacting him multiple times via the Rally America site- no reply to any of the attempts... Nothing.

As a business owner and a guy thats looking to give someone local and an
"Alliance Vendor" my money instead of buying overseas, I find it pretty disrespectful.

With a site like this promoting your business, the least you can do is contact someone who has repeatedly inquired about a product. Its common courtesy.

  2. Call him. I ordered some wheel hoops last year, real easy to deal with.

I have bought two pair of 18 inch Bonneville wheels from him and will buy my next wheels from him. I thought it worked out OK.

While most of you on here have glowing things to report about RA, my experience was a lot like Slmlrd had, and I do use the phone. Promised delivery dates came and went, blame was put on Gary for promising things he can't deliver, weak promises, etc. When I finally pinned him down he admitted the wheels were not even started and they had no delivery date in mind.

Every business has glitches, but ignoring a customer, not being honest, and generally letting you hanging is not the way to do business. I am not sure what it is about wheel companies in general, but all of the ones we have dealt with seem to run hot and cold. Must be a strange business that none of us on the outside understand.

All I ask are straight answers, even if it is not what I might want to hear.

It's been an awful long time since I've bought any new wheels. The more I see, the more I think I'm going about this the right way.

Bottom line is if as a company YOU provide a means of contacting you like an email address you damn well better respond. It is no different than not answering the phone.

bought a set of 4 smoothies & adaptors last year for my Nash, answered a P.M. from this site, in which he gave me the phone number to call... very happy with the results, so I bought another pair & 8 more adaptors from them this year, P.M. went unanswered, but I recieved him proptly on the phone, & was happy with my 2nd order...

I bought custom backspace steelies for the coupe from "Wheelkid". It took a month or so, but he stated up front it would take a month. I would definitely buy from Wheelkid again and never had any communication issues. All my communication was via phone.

a business oriented guy would not ignore communication from a prospective customer, nor would he make promises he couldn't keep.

If you prefer customers contact you via phone, then promote your business in that fashion. If you won't respond to a PM or email, then don't offer that as a means of communication.

there has to be valid reasons that Jimmy keeps getting bashed.

    I don't know.

I prefer to communicate via email

  21. i was thinking of contacting them ....but maybe not now

i ve had a simular exprience from another allaince vendor that seems to be very popular on here never responded to my pms or my replys to threads he started so i bought what i was asking him about from speedway ohwell his loss

  22. I just got through with a transaction with him. I ordered a set of steelies for my '40 Ford project. He answered my PMs here on the HAMB, and if I called just as they were opening or late in the day near closing, someone answered the phone. The price turned out to be a little less than what he quoted. The wheels were delivered to my door on time, exactly the week he promised them.

I had an exceptional experience. Definitely do business with them again.

Bought two wheels from him last year. Original 55 Chevy centers, with new hoops. Very pleased with the product, it did take a little communication, as he had to get the centers. A phone call works, as does he, Jimmy's out building wheels, so be persistant. As someone who's worked in a small family business, I understand having to do it all can be overwhelming!

    Taken from their site.

What, they don't deserve the truth to be told about what some of us have experienced ? Since when is it not ok to post a person's true experience just because some others have had different luck with them ?

They are big boys and are in business, no different from any other business. If there are things that some of us have experienced that were less than acceptable they need to know that and hopefully make corrections. If it were my business I would want to know. The customer who goes away mad and never tells you why is not doing you any favors.

    Business 101.

Well it is refreshing to see that some people get PMs answered and some don't.. Guess it's just the luck of the draw... And just to clear something up:

I have tried repeatedly to contact someone at Rally America. PMs, via the hamb email and phone calls via their own website. I am a business owner, with multiple businesses that are very busy. I always respond to an email, and or return a phone call but that's just me.... Lesson learned, thank you.

I called... He set a timeline and a price and delivered... Never PM'd him because some folks don't check in on a regular basis... I was a a happy camper!
