Gene's Hot Rod Parts

Discussion in 'New to the H.A.M.B.? Introduce yourself here!' started by Gene's Hot Rod Parts, Jul 14, 2012.

  1. For over 3 decades there has been some form of “Gene's” in operation. Back in the late 70’s Gene McKinney was working at Joe Smith Automotive in northeast Atlanta as Joe’s first employee in the Early Ford Parts division. Gene quickly built a reputation for being the man who knew the best combination of original and aftermarket parts to put together an early Ford hot rod.

In the 80’s Gene’s moved around and grew a good bit. There was “Gene’s Hot Rod Repair” in the shop behind Joe’s. Later adding parts to the repair work he opened “Gene’s Hot Rod Parts and Service”. Gene built a national reputation for his inventory of original and performance parts as well as rare and hard to find pieces. He was a regular at the big swap meets as well as the Salt Flats. In 1989 Gene moved to Lithia Springs GA where he opened "Gene’s Hot Rod & Antique Ford Parts".

In 1995 Gene moved the shop to his family’s old home place in Riceville Tennessee and in the fall of 2011 I moved the shop a little further up I-75 to Knoxville.

    Thanks,
    Charlie

Welcome to the HAMB...I wish you'd have introduced YOURSELF,,not Gene...Read the "sticky" at the top of this page...

  3. Personally, I have been on the HAMB since 2006 and the last few years as an Alliance Member. I purchased Gene’s last year but have really just started to get things going the last couple of months. I wanted Gene’s to be a separate account and an Alliance Vendor.
I have been building, buying and trading cars and parts since I was a kid. I always hoped that I would someday be in the position to do the “Old Car” thing on a full time basis and time and cir***stances came together and I was able to buy Gene’s.

Tell Gene Hey...I remember him from way back.. best of luck....

  16. I'm looking forward to see how it turns out. Keep me posted.

  17. Thanks for the kind words. I had a great time at the drags but didn't get out of my space enough to see much racing. Friday night around the hotel was great. This will be an annual event for Gene's.

  18. I'll tell Gene hey for you. There were several folks at the HAMB Drags that asked about him. I tried to get him to come with me but he fussed and cussed over a trip to Atlanta the week before and said he wasn't about to ride that far with me. He kind of leans to the cranky side.
