[IMG]Hello, My name is Bob and I have a fixation with Bombshell Betty, ever since Mazooma1 posted this photo from Speedweek 2012. She's the first I've seen with skits on her front wheelwells. Bob

They work for the cl*** she now runs in. Less air under the car and in the wheel wells = more speed with the same power.

Check the other photos of the car for the cl*** designation and then check the SCTA rule book.

My '52 Porsche came from the factory with skirts all around. Unusual to see, especially back then.

:D I saw a Quote some where that streamlining was for those who could not make horse power.

Betty is not the only car on the salt with front skirts. If you look closely at George Fields car you can see that the wheels and tires are painted on the skirts so it isn't as strange looking. Also i have seen a Corvette with front skirts. Streamlining is for people who can make horsepower and want to go really fast. Ask Ron Main

I like Betty too! I was hoping somebody that knew might let us in on some of her finer points. Engine, ******, how it's going, stuff like that.

  9. Thanks guys,

BOMBSHELL BETTY held the record in her XO / GCC cl*** from 2010 World Finals at 141.8+ it was a very hard fought fairly respectable speed, given her size and 1950 straight 8 engine.
I extended and sloped her nose, skirted the front wheel openings and built a (near) full belly pan. That's it! So... with the same engine, a rich (bad) tune and a missed 3rd. gear shift, I put 15+ miles per hour on the old record and backed it up the next day. That's proven value of skirting and belly pan works.

Throughout the event I pulled out a few more tricks and we finished with a new XO / GCC record of : 162.48 mph. This is a 2 way, measured mile speed.
Stay tuned... she's got more to give.

That car is one of the best looking out on the salt. Love it.

And to answer your question, cl***y ladies look good in skirts

I think it was Enzo Ferrari and he said" aerodynamics is for people that don't know how to build engines".

That thing is just EVIL !! and I mean that in the most complimentary way. When you look at it there is no question it was built to run.

There is nothing that baby lacks - maybe high heels to show off her loooooong legs getting up to 162+ in skirts.
Awesome piece of art that runs and runs.

Why does Bombshell Betty race in Skirts?

Because a "Lady" never shows too much leg

  19. I see lots of guys asking questions about LSR especially after Speedweek. My advice is to BUY A RULEBOOK! It will be the best $10 spent for your shop or bathroom. Great reading if you are a gearhead.

I had the pleasure of meeting her at El Mirage last year, she's definately the coolest car I've ever seen. Also her owner and team is a true cl*** act. Rumor has it she may make an apperance at ElMo in November:rolleyes:

So what's the full story on this rig?

  27. part story: a true low budget, no sponsor, back yard build.
$700.00 1952 Buick Super from an old Phoenix lumber yard.
$150.00 1950 Buick big block (built, for more $$'s of course)
$175.00 1965 Muncie 4 speed from Kansas swap meet
    $50.00 1969 Lincoln 9" rear from Albuquerque s**** dealer
$75.00 1968 Chevy van straight axle

Me and my home boy Serge (second pic in thread) built this car in 3 months , on the pad behind my art studio. No previous race car experience, period. Just a dream a vision and great advice from guys on this site like Rich Fox and Jim Kitchen.
