Just got the word that Scott, driving for Pete Aardema took out 2 new records at Bonneville.Pete from Escondido has been chasing spped records at El Mirage and Bonneville for many years. He is well known for his overhead cam heads for SBC and other engines. He has also built some top hot rods,2 that were rear engined with his heads of course. Here is the text of the email we just got here. And an 8 min Youtube of the car doing the record pass.

Hi all , just back from Bonneville in Utah we had a fantastic result coming home with 2 land speed records in the V/4 Vintage Four , Streamliner Classes running in Blown Gas as well as Blown Fuel with a top speed on a 3 mile pass of 240 mph. The engine block is a 1929 Ford Model A 4 cylinder originally 35 Hp that our team owner Pete Aardema and crew chief Kevin Braun have modified for racing complete with tubo charger making 9 lbs of boost and 360 Horse power to the wheels. The car or Streamliner Pete , Kevin and I built in 2010 all home built . We have been racing Bonneville and the El Mirage lake bed since 2001 and by the end of the season with luck have about 18 different speed records in 2 cars. Spirit of San Diego 831 , 1929 Model A Roadster , Shortys 834 , 1934 Ford , 3 Window Coupe and the Streamliner. All the thanks to team owner Pete Aardema , crew chief Kevin Braun , Tony Cortez , Dennis Lefstein and all the rest that have supported us in our quest for speed. We run again on sept. 16th , Oct. 21 and last meeting of the year Nov. 10-11 at the El Mirage dry lake bed.

I was there both Saturday and Sunday and with my exceptional luck managed to miss you both days. Awesome achievment with an A block; we hope to hear more about it in the press reports like H4H4.

Yes it is. During one of the San Diego county wild fires he lost a lot of stuff including a 34 three window, a 4 cyl Scat powered motorcycle, several engines, his shop and all his tools, equipment, shop. Oh, he lost his house too.

Needless to say, he's recovered well, with a beautiful new house overlooking the San Diego Wild Animal Park and a shop that's better than ever.
