thats radical bro ! maybe theres hope yet for that body ..... he could still pull 2 more inches out of it !!!
Kudos for saving this A. I like the idea of using that frame too. It's not totally trad, but it's what rodding is all about. Using what you have and doing it yourself. Subscribed!
you could skin the front the frame and put an axel and cross member ... the sides are doable and the wheel base maybe so cheeper than duece rails 4 shore
Update: Picked up all new sheet metal from Brooksville Roadster...top notch vendor...they brought it all to the Nationals in Louisville so I didn't have to pay shipping or drive up and get it. Ended up getting complete subframe/floor ***embly, patch panels all the way around, plus wheel wells and new trunk lid ***embly. We have a new theme in mind that will require a new frame built from scratch. Have some great ideas that we are pretty excited about! Can't wait to share but gonna keep it under wraps for now.
Ok... did a little work over this weekend.. Made a frame jig / welding table. That took a whole saturday to make it completely level, square, and flat. Turned out nice. We bought some 12 foot long 2x4 box steel for the frame rails but decided to turn our attention to the body before we build the frame. Here is the jig table... And we placed the coupe on the table and removed the retarded sub ***embly that the POA built. Then we started to mock up the coupe onto the new brookville unit. Nice little piece of metal. Im hoping someone to could give me some information... I need to know the width of the B pillar, inside to inside or outside to outside from pillar to pillar... It looks like the body has spread apart due to the lack of chopping skills. Thanks for any information!
just stumbled on to this today... if its made of metal it can be fixed.. good luck, im glad you are saving another one.. subscribed
Started playing with patch panels last weekend. We tacked the subframe to the cowl where it was square and then directed our attention to the back. We are trying to figure out how we are going to push/pull the body to meet the sub frame, which we know is square. Anyone have a picture of how the A and B pillar meets with the sub ***embly? The more upclose and detailed the photo would be appreciated. Thanks We found out we are missing the indented piece that contours into the sub ***embly. We are considering just laying it flat and making a patch panel to mate the wheel well to the the lower quarter... Anyone done this? Dont mind those tack welds, I hit it real quick to see how it lined up and then broke them off with a chisel when it didnt line up like I wanted....
Just in case you need to know these when you go to put the new subrails in. I don't have one of the 1930-1931 Coupe body so I'm not sure of the distance between the B-pillars.
It looks like your starting to make some progress. I'm looking forward to watching.... It'll be fun to see another one ressurected from the dead.
If you put two more doors on it, then you would have a chicken sedan!!!!!!!! Nice save but your gonna burn up a fortune in welding wire. Good Luck.
Lookin good guys. Somthing like this is probably the only way i'll get a coupe. My modifid started with less & my rpu I'm working on was just a cowl
No updates since the last. I purchase another house with a decent size shop that I am still moving all of my tools at. I hope to get the coupe and frame table to my new place this week so I can start working on it again. I also have a new project I am doing for my buddy.... 38 Olds Sedan. Link So I will have to split my time between the two. I will take some pictures when we get it to my shop and hopefully some updates on the project soon there after.
I don't see the problem with that chop! :0 Gl! Its only metal. If you mess it up bad enough, beat the hell out of it and fix it. It can't get any worse than what they had goin on!! Subscribed!
G***er, thats a bad *** coupe! Any links to reference or info on builder? Id love to see more. Still no updates yet, I did get the coupe out to my new shop, but I am putting all my effort into another project to get it out the door, plus I have an upcoming wedding to attend to... hopefully by the end of may I will be able to start posting new updates..
lowrders, I just checked out your build. I havent made it through the thread yet but you deserve some serious credit for your craftsmanship. If I can even come close your your caliber I will be stoked..
