We are leaving for Salt tonite making a straight thru drive. In the past we
have gone up thru Denver to Cheyenne. Assuming the problem is cleared
on Highway 6 thru Price is that a faster way? Is 6 a good road? As always
we are itching to get there.

  4. No do not take Highway 6, it is closed for a while. There is a gaping hole that is about 30ft deep and 70ft wide. people planning on coming that way will have to take a 2 hour detour.

You obviously haven't seen the pictures. Haha. It's NUTS.

Chris - Snap a few pics in Moab if you remember. I'd like to see how it has changed in the past ten years.

The arch? There are hundreds in arches :)
I assume you mean Delicate arch? They one on our plates?
Not a hike to do in the heat, 1.5 miles that seem straight up! Thats where I proposed to my wife....our wedding was also in arches. We spend A LOT of time im Moab!

Landscape arch hike is mostly in the shade, good one on a hot day.

This mornings news said the hole is mostly filled with road base already, but the have to test the cliff next to the road to make sure it is stable. They said the explosion lifted part of the cliff and there is asphalt and truck parts under it!!!! 38,000 pounds of explosive!!!! However the RR has got the tracks repair already and trains are running!

If you are comming across I 70 just keep going and cut off and head to Scipio from 70. It will cut about 50 miles off from taking 70 all the way to 15. Or just head up to 80 and take it all the way....
