    Good morning,

Looking for suggestions for a lead for a good wheel/tire dealer in the Katy or West Houston area for my '36 Ford 5 window coupe street rod. I am looking at changing out existing Smoothies for Cragar Series 390C Street Pros and need somebody that will do the right thing in determining proper wheel size, width, offsett, etc.

Cragar's normal dealer network in this area as I understand it is Discount Tire and I am thinking they may not have the requisite skills / knowledge at the local store level to determine custom offsets and other areas of concern since the required info for a '36 Street Rod application would not necessarily be loaded within their internal application guide. Not a reflection on Discount Tire as they are a strong national chain I use for my other vehicles just thinking these particular actions may be a bit out of their scope.

    Thanks for the help.

I have talked to a couple guys at my local Discount (north Austin) who were very much car guys. That's not to say that anyone at your local shop is, but it might be worth a call, to see if any of them are 'hot rod guys' who could help...

I've always thought that was something you needed to sit down and figure out yourself before you went to the tire store. If you trusted the guys at the tire store I go to to pick tires and rims for you it would have 12 inch wide 24's on all four corners. Except for the one who is into lowriders and he gets it.

I agree...you might be asking a bit much of a tire dealer. Plus, you might ask for something you wish you never got.
