greetings from Vancouver British columbia, my name is Chris , i have a 1933 ford model a pickup with unknown hood sides, notice the line on it doesnt match the cab and notice the embossed detail around the louvers, i think this is a 33 grill but not entirely sure,.
I think Mataconcepts is on to something there, but I will add that I think it is probably an ooooold Rootlieb aftermarket hood. I base this on the hoodside hinges being higher up on the top sides than stock and later repro stuff.
A nice clear shot of the hoodside would be nice. Same for the grille, a nice straight on shot showing the whole grille and a closeup of the top part where the cap and emblem are. A small generic front quarter shot is poor pickins for details.
the bed is correct, the cab is 32-34 the grill appears to be 33 due to depth and the hood,...who knows. it does look longer than it should and does resemble model a louves. probly somthing somone put together. is it just me or does somthing seem off where the cowl meets the windsheild?
Headlights are pretty bad but i'm surspised nobody noticed the big back window......thats the worst thing they have done to it, i just bought it this week for cheap but it had an owner that tried to "modernize" it.. i cant figure out how to post more pics on the original thread
look at what someone did to the back window.......lets see if anyone can id the body parts,. the bed looks like 33/34 , the body is a 33........
Thats a '33/'34 bed... The key is the distance between the front of the bed and the front of the rear fender. '33/'34's had a longer wheel base than a '32's, so the '33/'34 bed is longer in that area.
The hood on the OP is not a Model A hood. It's a '31 Chevrolet. The Model A hoods (all years) did not have the raised rectangular panel around the louvers that the '31 Chevrolet has. I ran a '31 Chevy hood on my '30 Model A coupe back in the 70s.
thanks guys that helps, now if anyone can id those headlights???, just joking, looks like they were a bad choice from speedway.
It all looks 1933 except for the Hood/Running Boards/Rear Window/Headlights/& wheels. Replace all those, ASAP!!!
the grills that ive seen on 33's are more tilted backwards this looks more like a 32 because its straight up and down, but maybe they have taken a 33 grill and stood it up straight to match the lines of the hood sides more?....
thats what I thought. It may be a 1932 truck all together Show us a pic of the firewall & frame, it'll tell us what it is. Also if it's a 106" wheeelbase vs. a 112" for a 33/34, hench the bigger slanted grille.
it could be a 32 truck with a 33/34 bed, i will take a look at the firewall, the frame is custom so that wont help, i guess the 32 cabs have bolted on firewalls?
The cab is def either '32 or '33. Even though the rear window area was hacked out, there is no evidence of the fat belt line indicative of a '34. I think the grille is a '33 that's been installed up-right. Or a commercial '32. Can't say for sure due to the limited pix. Nice truck though, plenty of potential! Congrats!!
That back window! Wow. God love him, the previous owner was artistically impaired. Was he blind also?
Backlight has that '56 Chevy Apache 31 Big Back Window look! Wanted an Apache, all he had was this nice ol' 33, and it HAD to be a Ford! Well, he'd fix that!
Pretty sure it's a 33 grille shell, as the sides look too beefy? ..and in the second group of pics, the first pic of the side view, it almost looks too tall for the cowl height, so it could be a 33 shell, straightened up...which would make it too tall.
