So, i just saw Fast N Louds Frankenford, where they took the front independant suspension from a 2006 Crown Vic and put it in the frame of the f-100. I have a 1947 Ford Sedan Delivery and I want to do the same concept but i cannot find anywhere the exact specs of a 1947 ford frame...HELP ME OUT!

The aguing will commence, but at somewhere around 63" the Crown Vic is waaaaaayyyyy too wide for even the F-100 those genuises put it under. stickwith a good quality Mustang II and love the thing forever.

I have the mustang II but i was thinking about the quickness of just plopping another front end in it. Mustang II is somewhere around 2500 bucks for the base package, whereas i can get a junk car for around 1000 bucks. Way cheeper.

The crown vic front end is way too wide for a 47 ford sedan delivery. The Mustang II type suspension works well. There are less expensive ways to do it...although it's been a while since I've seen a pinto in a junkyard
Im not set on using the crown vic. It was an idea, I was curious if it would work. Maybe i should just go buy a volvo...
If your still about, a quick explanation is in order. There are certain suspensions that get "plopped" under cars that just flat don't work well for the intended purpose. That happens to be one of them. People see one guy do it, then suddenly everybody thinks it's the easy way to go and more do it. Then somebody actually get close to completion on one of these cars and the wave of threads start; "how can I make front wheels fit?" "How do I put a rack and pinion on my S-10 clip?" "Why can't I lower my truck?" The people that answered have just flat answered this question a half thousand times already. Save your money, call Heidts (brand name that has been around for almost thirty years) or any number of companies and get a Mustang II kit. It'll work best. Now, admission time. I snuck under the ropes with out an introduction. I jumped on the board and just went along like I belonged here. I have also been in this hobby and industy for the better part of 35 years. The polite thing to do around here is an intro. That's what 3 window Larry meant by just walking in to a shop and randomly asking questions. Go back, take a couple of minutes and do one. After 6300 or so posts mostly to the technical side of things, if somebody pressed me to, I will too. The last one is personal opinion. I have watched the show you have mentioned two times. I have seen previous cars they have done in magazines. I'm not even close to impressed...

There's really not allot to know about them, but yes they are rare. They are based on the sedan of the era, and all the underpinnings and after market stuff for p***enger cars fit. The rear fenders are special to that car and the rear bumper and it's irons are as well. It does have the single rear door, right?

I had a 46 ford sedan delivery in 1965 (like owning a 1993 car today) it was my only ride at the time had a 39 trans with zeypher gears and chrome wheels other than that it was bone stock I have never read an intro. when I joined in 1998 an intro wouldn't save you from an *** bashing. good thing that we have people that read every intro to keep the FNG's honest
You said it has a mustang II. Why swap it out if you already have IFS? Just go down to your local parts store, refresh the front end and be done. Or swap back to a stock style front end and put a drop axle in...
intros are ********. nobody reads them, they disapear off page one in a day or 2, yet the ******* in a bunch club comes running when someone doesn't do one. I did mine on my 10,000th post. dude just asked a regular question and gets his *** handed to him over nothing. what a fun site this is.
I happen to agree! And your intro on your 10,000th post is what I intend to do. When I started here, I had NEVER even turned a computer on, and had no idea how to "navigate" a sight to even know that I had to do an intro. Other than a couple of posts nerfing with friends about a local run, my first post answered a question nobody else seemed to be able to answer, so I guess I just sort of fit in. I think that at times everybody needs to just drop back and realize that not everybody coming in knows the protocol of being on a internet sight and mellow out a bit.
that type of **** gets old...plus if you posted back ten years ago it was alot different, cause the guys giving you **** had earned respect around here...now anyone jumps on the pile...
I would not use the Crown Vic set up. I bought the Heidts at the Long Beach Swap meet in pieces over time. My total investment was under $600 for everything required. The crossmember is custom made for your frame and is easy to install. All of the other components just bolt on. Here are some photos of the project and final build. They make nice drivers.
