Well it has been another productive week on the build off of the 34 Ford Truck. Looks like we should make the hAmb Drags for sure. Pops (Dirty2) and Slide have been helping out alot. We got the brakes plumbed in, blead, and adjusted. Got the intake, carbs, amd linkage form Marty at northest installed, Also finished making my first set of lake headers. Man what a chore. It is alot harder than it looks, especially flowing in the rear pipe. I got it done just took a couple late nighters. We Ran into some problems with the hydraulic throughout bearing so luckily the hamb came to the rescue and Jason (Badegg97) was kind enough to sell me a 60-63 bellhousing to run which puts the clutch fork on the passenger side. Ups says it will be in today so we will be putting it in today. Hopefully gonna bolt the cab down, the bed, run gas lines, do some basic wiring and maybe fire her up by Sunday. Heres some progress pics and my first shot at homemade headers. Hamb Drags or bust!!!!! Motorcycle jack cam in handy with my headers too. And a few wood blocks.
What did you use for the outer tubes? I have some header plates and 1.625 tubing for the runners. I just didn't know what to use for the outer tapered tubes. I was just going to make zoomies but won't be able to drive it much with the cam I am running.
Dirty31, Thats a GREAT lookin' ride. If you don't mind me asking, where can I get those flanges that you used for your headers ? I think I want to create something along the line like that for my truck. Great job.
Thats looking good. Thanks for the picts !!! Wait I see it every night !! I am just hooking the spray on the 32 !!!
Usually to get a car done that quick, you have to quit your job, get a divorce and sell your daily driver. Looks bitchn' so far. Keep after it. If you make it to the Drags, I'll buy you a beer. -Abone.
Top Chopped 5 Inches, Speedway flanges, wife said I have 2 more weeks or there will be a divorce. Na just kidding, but there has been some warnings. We will make it. Feel like I have been working three jobs though. It will all be worth it when we line up a MOKAN.
Those of yall who saw Dirty31's A coupe that he built last year (and recently sold) already know he has a good eye for how to make a cool hot rod. One thing these pics don't show is how the headers flow with the rest of the lines on the vehicle. Looking from a dead-on side view, if you draw an imaginary line through the main tube of the header, another line through the center of the frame rail, and another thru the center of the split wishbone, all 3 lines will converge in one point just below the rear edge of the door. Rusty said he didn't specifically try to do the 3-lines thing, he just put the pipes where they looked good! Can't wait to see this thing on the road! Wish I could make it to MOKAN, but I'm not about to skip out on the birth of our 2nd!
